Don't worry. Connect PS3 to Receiver via HDMI and do the following two things. 1. Select (Settings) > (Sound Settings) > [Audio Output Settings] -> HDMI -> Automatic -> OK 2. Select (Settings) > (Sound Settings) > [Audio Multi-Output] and set the option to [On] Test with a SD DVD and see if the main movie track (not Menu Audio) can output DD/DTS. | ||

If you change the audio output settings, audio will be output only from the connectors that were set. If you change the audio output settings, the system will no longer be able to output audio from multiple output connectors at the same time. For example, if your system is connected to a TV via an HDMI cable and to an audio device via a digital optical cable and you switch to [Digital Out (Optical)] under [Audio Output Settings], audio will no longer be output from the TV. To output audio from the TV, switch the setting to [HDMI], or select (Settings) > (Sound Settings) > [Audio Multi-Output] and set the option to [On]. | ||

Not really. My legacy/original PS3 from 2007 plays ps1/ps2 games natively (hardware supported). After the first price drop in 2008, backward compatibility worked only via software emulation (slow but works). With PS3 SLIM they dropped that too. So much for lowering prices... justified by stripped down hardware. | ||

Mallik, On a second thought I realized about audio settings on PS3. Under Audio settings menu, check HDMI and select the channels and format you can output. I don't remember the settings top of my head. Intikelli evening chepta... | ||

Right. there is no difference between bitstream and PCM.
HDMI connect chesi regular DVD play cheste, are you getting DD/DTS? Usual ga, menu audio 2-channel untundhi and feature sound track 5.1 (DD) untundhi. You should see the mode switched on receiver when it starts playing the movie. | ||

 .. klishtamaina kochhen.. even i forgot in what mode i put my ps3 on.. intiki poyi check chestaa.. As of now, per my understanding, PCM via HDMI or Bitstream via HDMI shouldnt differ that big in audio quality. However, I noticed while playing Guitar Hero, my menu audio was outputing 2-channel and was not decoding DD/Dts via HDMI but was able to via Optical. This difference should be limited to 'Menu Audio' only. Will let you know in the evening on this more, once I check my PS3 audio options and try both hdmi/optical.. Good that you brought this up.. HDD space is not a issue as you can swap the 120 gig disck with another SATA disk very easily in future. r u sure? i am using optic for now. Any idea which is better among - bit stream vs pcs ? my receiver can handle both. If god doesn't like the way I live, let him tell me, not you | ||

Congratulations!! Better audio ante HDMI1.3, no doubt. But naa PS3 enduko Guitar Hero DD/Dts code/decode chestaledu. So using Optical for audio. Inka games ante naak bhi no avidea.. I like to buy golf in near future, if its available.. In this db, there's always someone watching you!! | ||
