While the flood situation has taken a dangerous toll on the state, many are doing whatever they can to help. However, what has surprised many is the gesture made by the politicians. They have announced that they would be donating their one month salary as a relief gesture. Given the money that they make, many have criticized this announcement. Ironically, more than the leaders, it is the common people who are responding promptly and that too more generously. For now, the parties have been appearing in television channels with their banners atop vehicles for relief. The truth is that, even those materials are contributions from many citizens who are going to the party office and giving it. This is a rather shameful situation our leaders have brought us into and many are cursing that they will face a tough time if they don’t react and help at least now.  |
