Today is Vikings' day. MNF lost its mojo when they moved it from FREE network television to paid cable television. |

http://wcco.com/vikings/Vikings.Packers.Favre.2.1229377.html MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) ― Click to enlarge1 of 1 The Vikings will face the Packers for Monday Night Football, a game that's predicted to break records for the number of viewers. But not just any game -- a game that will be history in the making. Favre faces the team that made him a star and the only team in the NFL he's never played against -- the Green Bay Packers. It takes place in just a few hours at the Dome, but fans have been all abuzz about this rivalry matchup for weeks. It's being called the NFL game of the century -- some are predicting the biggest viewership in cable TV history and ESPN couldn't be happier. ESPN sideline reporter Suzy Kolber and Monday Night Countdown Analyst Matt Millen kicked off the big day at the Chalk Talk Luncheon at the Guthrie. "We have one of the great quarterbacks of all time and he has a chance to come back and play against his former team, and anytime that happens, anytime that happens in any form of life, it's a big deal," Millen said. Fans who attended the Chalk Talk event caught a glimpse of NFL Hall of Famer Randall McDaniel, who will get his ring at the halftime of tonight's big game. McDaniel said it's still bizarre for him to get used to Favre in purple, not green. "It's still hard to get used to," he said. "He still doesn't look right in that uniform." For McDaniel and certain fans at tonight's game, it may be an even stranger sight to see Favre, in a Vikings uniform, playing against his former teammates. At least that's the case for Green Bay Mayor Jim Schmitt -- a longtime Packers ticket holder. "To have him over here, in enemy territory, is going to be tough to watch," he said. "But I'm sure hoping the Packers pull this one out." Other Packer fans aren't quite so nice, saying Favre is a traitor and a disappointment. "I almost cried the first time I saw him in a purple jersey," said Adena Byczek, a Packers fan. "It was the strangest thing I'd ever seen, but I'm over it. And once we win today, it'll be even better." |
