bro .. the green cover will almost be doubled solely because of this interlinking. It is a great way to counter "global warming" .. also .. Gujarat has implemented this by interlinking Narmada, Tapti and Sabarmati rivers !!! 2+ years ayyindi .. the state is doing gr8 .. agri output tripled !!! practically not possible enti annai? it is much feasible than some projects like polavaram, where the entire papi kondalu are being wiped out !!! Interlinking of rivers may prevent flooding, but will certainly cause other problems....It is ecologically disastrous...not practically feasible......a herculean task like you mentioned and may ultimately prove more harmful than useful... AFAIK, Only Soviet Union has attempted it so far; ended up with the Aral sea disaster and had to give up. | ||

Inter linking of rivers is the best way to counter this. Ninna okka roje Srisailam Dam nunchi 20 lakh TMC water sea lo ki vadilesaru. This when 80% of the total land in the country are facing a drought !!! 20 lakh TMC ante .. it is equivalent to an entire crop for a state like AP, along with all the drinking water and other needs like water for NTPC etc .. Ideally, if yesterday, the rivers had been interlinked, it would have meant that the water in Krishna could have been diverted into Penna, Kaveri etc rivers, which would have avoided human loss, farm loss and property loss in Krishna Basin. The displacement of a million people would have been averted ! Next, it would have provided much needed drinking water for the entire state for the entire season. Excess water meant, lots of lands can be irrigated, thereby boosting agri output, employment, rural economy and reducing poverty !!! Cities like Chennai, which usually have drinking water problem lanti vaatiki .. ila flood vachinappudalla immediate transfer of water undela management systems unte baguntundi !!! I hope someday a govt realizes all these great benefits and takes up the herculean inter-linking of rivers !!!
