That's what's happened to a Wisconsin restaurant and bar's plan to burn Brett Favre memorabilia on Monday night, during halftime of the Vikings-Packers game. The Milwaukee Burger Company in Eau Claire ran afoul of the local fire department's codes, and won't be allowed to fill a blazing barrel with Favre photos and jerseys. "We're concerned about the people at the event and the citizens in the area because of the potential for toxic smoke coming off" the burn barrel, Deputy Fire Chief Rick Merryfield told the TV station. Added Merryfield: "Our concern is there was going to be multiple different articles of clothing and then Brett Favre bobble-heads thrown in there and everything else." The compromise is that the restaurant gets to torch one Favre jersey, made of cotton. |
