nenu taj mahal soodaledhu kaani nellore lo gandhi bomma choosa....single metal tho whole sculpture....ela chesara anpicchindhi.....first time trunk road dhati city loki enter avuthuntey u get the first glance of this miracle......it will hit u like a bolt....first u feel like u have seen it b4....and then u realize its not real...and then u feel like o my god...i know this guy....and then u yell damn its mahatma.....the look is real...the feel is real and it so real that there wont be any birds in the near vicinity of the statue cause the walking stick held by gandhi in the statue scares them away....i know people who saw taj mahal n the sisteenth chappell n so many pieces which were hailed as architectural wonders....but all of em unanimously claim that the gandhi bomma in nellore trunk road is miles ahead in imagination n approach.... | ||

I have seen it many times..and I love it  The first vist was when I was a 12 and it took my breath away...the last visit was when my son was 12.. and his reaction to his first sight was "Wow, The pictures do not do it justice " It depends on what you are looking for and what you expect...technically, sculpture ani kadu - just the visual of the while marble monument from the main gate is awesome Akshardham is beautiful - but like someone already mentioned its a recreation of old art motifs on a large scale using modern tools..beautifully done and a must see... Alage Humayun's Tomb in Delhi is a beautiful monument - Red sandstone , modified version of Taj almost.. aa chal ke tujhe main leke chalu ik aise gagan ke tale jahan gam bhi na ho, aansoo bhi na ho,bas pyaar hi pyaar pale | ||

I have seen Taj and Appreacited , the way it is envisaged, desined and Built by collective effort of thousands of minds. Historians Say, - Taj used to have embedded carvings "for the entire thick ness of the wall" - like flower design and etc - Taj used to have lot of embedded valuable stones, that were looted -One may not appreacite Taj in the afternoon, or by looking at the nasty surroudings. Partly govt is responsible for closure of so many areas. - As someone said, Taj's Beauty can be understood, when we sync it with history and workers effort and in Moon light. - Relishing a Beauty / wonder depends on the "state of the mind" at that moment. | ||

Lot of people who go see Taj on a hot afternoon and without a guide won't like it. It's hard to focus on the history and the effort and the romantic side of Taj when u r too busy wiping the sweat that's flowing down ur spine :-) Without a guide there is no one to tell u the history behind Taj(all or most of us forgot the history we read back in 9th grade). Our guide was absolutely phenomenal. I wish I took his phone number for future visits. | ||

And, you dont compare one ancient structure to other.. these are not theme parks.. like we compare sixflags with knotts.. they are beauties in absolute sense and not relative.. Thanks Jodha. I took a picture in Agra Fort where they shot the scenes of Akbar's court :-D I wonder if the guide was bluffing or if they really shot the move there. The scene in which Akbar comes to take Jodha home - that entryway into Amber fort was so steep I thought that must have been one bad shooting day. Again don't know if the guide was bluffing when he said those scenes were shot in Amber fort in Jaipur. One thing for anyone going to historic sites including Taj - hire a guide - it is so well worth it. Without a guide u r just looking at walls, even if they are marble ones or pink sandstone. | ||

If you think about the fact taj mahal was built with no technology, no equipment and the center lines across all the structures match and all that Taj is superb. I saw akshardham. I like the construction. I simply didn't get the point of it all but that's for another discussion... When we went the inside temple was closed. I wish they had a board saying that outside instead of making us park the car, walk all over in the hot sun and charge us for parking. Agra fort, amber fort, all those places in Rajasthan - so much to see it and so many are becoming dilapitated so quickly. Feels like I should go on a 6 months vacation to India and see them all. | ||

I have seen it. It's just so out of this world. One tends to think it's made of marble, it's big so what. And when you see it in real life it takes your breath away. I just didn't want to leave that place. I will go back on a full moon day. My only gripe is that there are not many people there but I am sure that's what everyone else is thinking about me. I also like it that GOI put the entry fee as Rs 10 for Indians and Rs 500 for foreigners. Not many Indians can see if the entry fee is too high. My advise to anyone and everyone go see the Taj at least once in your lifetime. | ||

One thing for sure- picha photogenic ga vuntundi, but daggariki velli choosthe pulihara, em vundadu- just marble walls and pillars- sculpture and finesse we associate with architecture em vundavu, very bland and boring. If people want to see architecture, sculpture, grandiosity; I suggest these places- Akshar dham in delhi, Konark in Orissa, Belur& Halibedu in Karnataka. Visual treat - real master pieces. | ||

Nenu velladam ledu... but one of my colleague was super excited abt his forthcoming trip I have been to Taj 7-8 years ago. Books lo poetry chadivi, Movies lo, photos lo choosi super excite ayi vella. But it was total disappointment. May be bcoz i had high expectations or i didn't have a girl friend at that time  I was just wondering if there is anyone else who felt the same.
