quote:

NALGONDA: Dr. Shaik Abdul Ghani, the 39-year-old Sanskrit scholar and multi-linguist of the historical town of Bhongir, has been spiritedly pursuing a literary mission to spread Sanskrit literature.

Mr. Ghani, who is presently working as a Hindi teacher at the Government High School in Ramannapet, earned the unique distinction of receiving Ph.D in Sanskrit on the topic "Contribution of Muslims to the Sanskrit Literature" from OU recently.

The quest for exploring the traditional knowledge treasured in Sanskrit literature has driven Mr. Ghani to espouse the cause of Sanskrit language. Mr. Ghani has penned two books, presented seven papers in different languages and participated in various seminars as part of his literary mission so far.

In his book "Sanskrit literature rendered into Urdu" published by the Sanskrit Academy, OU, Dr. Ghani furnished valuable information on the available Urdu translations of Sanskrit literature. The book discussed at length on the Urdu translations of the epics such as the Ramayana and the Mahabharata besides the Vedas and Upanishads. It makes a special mention of the translation of Arthashastra, which contained the principles of governance and administration, into Urdu by Shanul Haque Haqqi and its publication by National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language, New Delhi, in 1999. Mr. Ghani also authored another book titled "Bhartrhari evam Raheem ka tulanatmak adhyayan" in Hindi.

He is presently focusing on bringing out a book "Tareeq Sanskrit Adab" in Urdu to highlight the history of Sanskrit literature.
