Shankar,US,says:Let's learn 6 languages. One for family integration, one for caste integration, one for the village integration, one for state integration, one for national integration and one for international integration! The three language formula is a stupid idea. Learn your mother tongue and learn one internation language that can be used nationally. Spend the time saved in learning Math and Science and develop our country. [25 Aug, 2009 0446hrs IST] Jagan,Miami, USA,says:Making Hindi compulsory in schools will ultimately destroy the unique diversity that India enjoys over any other nation in the world. This kind of dangerous politics to ultimately destroy regional languages and cultures in order to have complete control over them (especially the Southern states) violates the promise of federalism on which India was unified on and this should be condemned by all Indians. By fate, we already have English as the national integration language which also serves us well globally. This obsession of thrusting Hindi spanning decades after independence is baffling especially when Hindi pales in comparison to some of the other regional languages in terms of history or richness and as a language it serves no purpose beyond our borders. In the long run, regional languages will lose their standing if this back-door policy of thrusting Hindi is implemented. Instead of making these kinds of mischief, politicians should concentrate their minds on implementing tough policies to solve the most important issue of the hour...population control without which India will always be a poor country no matter what kind of progress we make in all other areas of development. [25 Aug, 2009 0601hrs IST] Sendhil,Pondicherry, says:Joke of 2009, I think Sibal is becoming official joker taking the Lalu 's place. Expect in some pockets of south india, Hindi has reached all over India, but nothing that sought of integration is seen with naxals increasing leaps and bounds. Knowledge of Hindi wouldn't aid in national integration, but reaching the hitherto unserved due to Red Tape and attitude of Politicians and Officials will strengthen the national integration [25 Aug, 2009 0840hrs IST] Vivek,Pune, says:For one reason or other, this jocker wants to be always in news................ Mr, Raj Thakrey, please take actions against this jocker who is starting the debate and spare poor daily wagers. Sibal is of the category of people who makes people burns others houses. Adi,Goa,says:It is totally idiotic to make hindi a mandatory in schools. Learning it is a complete waste of a students time and effort. Because a person usually never uses hindi other than his mother tongue and English. In most of the cases non-hindi guy never needs to learn hindi since he usually never goes to hindi language states (like UP, Bihar, MP) for education or asking for jobs. Because all non-hindi states are lot more developed and have the ability to provide its people a quality education and at least a decent jobs. Just imposing hindi on non-hindi states doesn't help a national integrity. It should be peoples choice to study hindi rather than making it compulsory. It could be an optional subject. If a student is interested he can opt for it. But if anybody is not interested in learning the language he/she should not be forced to learn the language. There are many different languages, cultures, religions in India. That is why it is called "Unity in diversity" and it should remain the way it is... rather than creating issues through these kind of stupid laws. [25 Aug, 2009 0953hrs IST] Rudraiah Rajasekhar,st louis MO USA,says:I am surprised to see that hidden agenda of Northern's to impose hindi on South is resurfacing. If they are so concerned with national integration, I suggest them to learn one of southern languages first and lead the way. This was tried before and failed thanks mainly for Tamilians we are still have Kannada, Telagu and Malayalam. South Indians get no benefit in learning Hindi other than being burden with learning additional language where as North makes no effort. It is high time they learn integration is two way street. [25 Aug, 2009 1007hrs IST] Best of all: - krishna, chennai, says:Hindi is not the NATIONAL LANGUAGE..why is it being made complusory, this is what I call as occupational country like DELHI over other states/terriority does..the DELHI IS NOT THE RULER OF INDIA...ITS SOLELY REPRESENTATED BY NORTH INDIAN HINDI SPEAKING BELT..WITH OTHER PARTS BEING GIVEN RAW DEAL...BE IT REPRESENTATIVE IN NATAURE OF FUNDS DISTRIBUTED...ALSO MOST TERRORISM , DACOITS, RAPES AND UNCULTURED BARBARISM HAPPEN FROM THE NORTH INDIANS ONLY...
