Jalsa:Again, credit goes to our DB Sendrudu KKD
KKD sarvaad post idena Day 1 - Pikes Peak America's mountain Simply WOW...... It is located in Colorado springs area and This is 14,000 ft above sea level. There are three ways of going to peak. Hike,Car or take Cog railway. As i was travelling with wife and little kid..i had no intention of hiking anyways. I opted for a Road trip to the peak. It is an excellent drive all the way upto the peak....Very Very Scenic 1 hour drive upto the peak at 14,000ft Winding roads ..no railings ....it is a thrilling ride as well. But be careful while driving. Once you reach the peak..it is a 360 view of mountain region It is like a walk in the clouds....Amazing place. Take a handycam and loads and loads of pictures. At the peak we had very special pikes peak donuts made fresh and Hot made right there. If you prefer to go up the mountain by Cog railway that is another amazing experience...If you have problem with heights and new to driving on mountains..better take Cog railway Temperature is 30 degrees less than that at the base. It is very breezy and Very cold. Make sure you dress warm. The trip is worth for amazing views from the Peak. Check some details here - http://www.pikes-peak.com/Attraction/22.aspx Note - the pictures in the website are nothing..i have taken pretty good ones..but am lazy to upload. Day 2 - Garden of the Gods & US airforce academy This is a remarkable park (Garden of the Gods) with full of red sandstone rock formations. It looks as if some sculptor had chiseled these rocks like that.....see it to believe it. There is a visitor center where they play a educational show on how these rocks are formed. Dont miss that. There are trails, hiking, Rock climbing,Horseback riding etc...i Chose to drive and walk few places to take some pictures. Check details here - http://www.gardenofgods.com/home US airforce academy This is a huge Campus with a Rocky Mountain backdrop. When i visited there is a foot ball game going on in the stadium inside the campus. At the entrance you have a display of a B-52 bomber. You can drive inside and check out exhibits and other stuff. There is a magnificiant structure Cadet Chapel inside the campus. Interior is extraordinary. It is closed by 5.00 PM. Make sure you go inside the structure it is very very good. Check out various Chapel pics here - (check all of them) http://www.usafa.af.mil/superintendent/hc/chapelpics/pages/C hapel_With_Fireworks%208x10.htm Note - Best places are yet to come...keep glued Day 3 - Royal Gorge Bridge and Park The Royal Gorge Bridge and Park is another impressive attraction. It is the highest suspension bridge in the world, and has some amazing views of the Royal Gorge and the Arkansas River deep below the bridge. You see it as a small stream from the bridge. There are lot of other things to do in the park apart from the bridge. There is an aerial tram which runs parallel ot the bridge. they say it is the longest single span aerial tram in the world..I cannot confirm but it is very thrilling one and it gives an amazing view of the Royal gorge and the bridge. You can drive or take a walk on the bridge it is a bit scray though as when the cars pass by the bridge literally swings both ways.... Then there is a incline railway which takes you from top all the way upto the bottom of the gorge. Very good place. Check out more details here - http://www.royalgorgebridge.com/ParkInformation.aspx Great sand dunes National Park One more natural wonder. Great place for nature admirers. I used to think this is the beutiful place i have seen in recent times after each attraction and then the next attraction beats that...this is one of those. The Dunes are few hundred feet hight and the views are breathtaking. These dunes are surronded by mountains. You can climb to the top of these dunes if you can (i could only go halfway because of huge winds) and then slide down. Sand is very very soft. Make sure you take lots and lots of drinks or water..you will feel very thristy. Check out more details - http://www.nps.gov/grsa/index.htm These pictures in the website are nothing...I will try to upload some later...Beutiful place. Day 4 - Rocky Mountain National Park. This is amazing place. This is so far the best scenic place in US for me so far. It is one complete day trip for me. I would swargam ki angulam dhooram lo vunnam antaru...same feeling vachindhi....wah re wah anipinche place... There are many many places breath taking views and scenic spots...frozen lakes...I went in the first week of june..where roads are all cleared and mountains are snow covered. amazing views. There are plenty of great views and make sure you take time to stop and enjoy each of them. You can spot the wildlife on the sides I simply cannot explain..you have to feel it. I felt the pictures i have taken couldnt even do 50% justice to the actual feel you have seeing with your eyes. I can write pages and pages on this alone..but have to stop here..will talk abt it later There are lots of drives in the park but these are the most thrilling and breath taking ones - Trail Ridge Road,Bear Lake Trailhead,Alpine point (amazing) Check some details here- http://www.nps.gov/romo/photosmultimedia/scenery%5Fphoto%5Fg allery%2Ehtm?eid=147265&root_aId=155#e_147265 Thammudu....naaku aithey one week best anipinchindhi....but i couldnt get even decent flight fare for a week..so had to adjust with a 4-5 day trip. Vunnanthalo baaga cover chesaaa....Inkoti vundhi...Black canyon of the Gunison national park ani....but Rockies choosaka inka migatha emi miss ayina feeling ledhu... http://www.nps.gov/blca/ |
