bagundhi mama....But when u want to weave a story on the event there sould be some connection..like say..U introduce all the characters except smita as pseudo americans faking accents and making fun of lack of infrastructures in a third world country like desham in which frequent power cut is also one..smita going through a fresh transition from desi life to US life gets offended by it..then u build a conversation on the same comparing the comforts of desam n here of which frequent power cut is one....U carry the conversation all through the lunch in the restuarant....got to write it intelligently without gettin bored....like the tip debate from reservoir dogs ....Then u introduce this blackout....make it dramatic....And then u make the character of smita talk more....let her explain them how a developed nation like USA is still struggling with such mishaps....how the country here gets to stand still when there is a snow storm or tornado even after having so much development and how desham which is hardly 60 years older as an independent nation is making forgress despite all the hurdles....some mera desh masala.... And by the end of the story The Blackout and smita brings light into the minds of the pseudo american characters whose mind was Blacked out by blind judgement and luv for USA.... | ||

It so happened that he used a "pretty" girl instead of saying a girl who likes yuck. Pretty girl captured ur attention. anta chinna, but significant event and also an unbelievable one (who would think NY would lose power for so long) at that ni use chesukuni Hyd made a story. I think it came out well. I liked it better than the one with the lady who had her feet turned backward | ||

After few minutes, steward was serving deserts on to the table. Suddenly, all the lights in the restaurant were gone. Before we could realize generator kicked in and all the lights were back. And when we were half way in to the desert, it happened again. All the lights went off for a quick second and came back immediately. And by the time we finished paying the check it repeated 4 times. Smita was puzzled "What's going on? Do you have power cuts in new york in also?" Amit quickly responded "No. This is strange. I have never seen that before" We walked back to the office and immediately came to know that same thing happened in the office as well. Couple of hours later, around 4:30 EST.. our office went into the dark again. But this time it didn't come back in next second. Not even in the next minute. All of us were puzzled. Some one shouted from the next aisle "Hey look, TIME SQUARE is also dark" Everyone who heard that shout got up to their feet to take a look. Yes, it was true. Time Square was dark. It gave a uneasy feeling. In next 10 minutes, we saw people coming out from all the buildings. We came to know that whole block has lost power. In another 20 minutes, we heard that whole city is down with power loss. BY 6 PM, it was confirmed that complete east coast has lost the power. No one could believe it. No one could stop it. No one could fix it quickly. And that's "Northeast Blackout of 2003" for you Gentleman. At the time, it was the most widespread electrical blackout in history.[1][2] The blackout affected an estimated 10 million people in Ontario and 45 million people in eight U.S. states. I liked the ambiance of restaurant. But i was also worried about the check that i had to sign since it was a TEAM lunch. We all knew that, Amit picked this restaurant to impress Smita by telling her that it was his selection. But his happiness didn't live longer as Smita said "There are many restaurants in hydbad which will beat this one hands down" Sid was waiting for this moment to catch up with Amit in the flirting game. "Yes, that's true. Hyderabad has developed a lot these days. There is nothing that you don't get there ... including Hamburgers" said Sid excitedly. "Come on Sid.. You can't compare New York to hyderabad" amit was trying to regain the ground. And couple of others supported Amit. For next 20 minutes, amit and his friends tried their best to boast about New York and America. It was around 1:20 PM. We could see the Time Square from the restaurant window. No one saw it coming. Nobody would have believed if someone said, such a thing could happen in the modern world. But at the end of the day, every one of us were in for shock. Want to know what i am talking about? Read on... It was the most beautiful day we have had in weeks. Sun came out early in the morning and mercury was standing at 75 by noon. But the temperature was comfortable with a little breeze in the air. Birds were singing and flying all over the Central Park. Few people were jogging in the park with their iPods plugged in the ears while some other walked their dogs chatting over cellphones. I wanted to go down there to take a walk in the park. But all i could do was, stand near the window of desk and look at beautiful central park from the 45th floor of my company's building. If it was any other Thursday, i would have gone down there by leaving all the work aside. But we had a major production release that was scheduled to go out the next day. I was lost in thoughts when someone came over and asked "Vivek, Can i talk to you for a minute?" I didn't even see her coming. "Sure" i said, still lost in thoughts. "Can you please take me out for lunch?" she whispered in a husky voice. "Well... hmm... " i was hesitating for the reasons unknown to me. Any other guy in the company would kill other to go out for lunch with her. Such was Smita's beauty. She was the talk of the town. Well, at least talk of the company. She created a sensation the moment she walked in through the door for the first time... 24 hours ago. "It's ok, if you have any prior commitments" smita interrupted my thoughts again. "Nothing like that. But i usually bring my lunch from home" i tried to explain. "Hey, shall we go out for team lunch?" Amit shouted from the next cube. I was not sure if he heard our discussion or not. And 2 other team members supported his idea. I guess they were all looking for a short break in the middle of a hectic schedule. And i am sure Smita was also one reason behind. Most of them were bachelors. I couldn't say NO any more. Amit quickly picked up the phone and reserved a table for 6 at a near by cosy Italian restaurant. We reached the restaurant by 12:30 EST. Amit and couple of others were busy flirting with Smita. She was new to America. She came to america 3 days ago. No one had any clue of what was going to happen in next couple of hours.
