Yeah it’s finally official. Sonia Aggarwal, the sultry siren of Tamil cinema, and Director Selvaraghavan have decided to call it quits after a near three year marriage. The couple has been in a relationship of the so called ‘live in’ for four years before they decided to ‘tie the knot’ on December 15, 2006, apparently at Sonia’s insistence. Driving in separate cars, the couple reached the family welfare courts complex in Egmore, a suburb of Chennai, on Wednesday afternoon to apply for their official ‘Splitsvilla’ a.k.a divorce citing ‘incompatibility’ as the reason behind the split. However, the couple will have to wait another six long months before they will be done with the legal issues. ‘we have been trying to sort out our differences over the last several months but our fiercely independent natures coupled with our ‘King Size’ egos didn’t help matters and soon we realized that separation and staying put as friends is the only way out and so we decided to call its quits’, director Selvaraghavan was quoted. The couple has been living separately of late with Selvaraghvan preferring to stay at his four- bedroom ultra luxurious villa at Alwarpet while Sonia seems comfortable at her brother’s residence at T.Nagar. Sources confirm that the real reason for the couple parting ways is however ‘Ms. Andrea’, the second female lead of the film ‘Aayarathil Oruvan’ being directed by Selvaraghvan. The director, believed to be head over heels with his new recruit, made her sing most of the songs in his latest offing and the already the number ‘Idhu Maalai Nerathu Mayakkam’ is topping the charts of Tamil cinema. Quite obviously, Sonia got ‘incompatible’ with her husband’s latest fascination and according to rumor mills, the star of Kadhal Kondein, her debut film opposite her director husband’s brother Dhanush, barged in to the sets of ‘Aayarathil Oruvan’ during a shoot at Hyderabad and slapped Andrea. Sources also confirm that Sonia tried her best to save the marriage from hitting the rocks and had to finally give up as she saw no point in holding onto something that seemed to matter less and less as the couple failed to resolve their differences’. |
