Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) president Dr. Jayamala held an urgent meeting with its members on Wednesday and decided to suspend the membership of Vijayakumar, distributor of Magadheera in Karnataka, for violating the Chamber's rules by releasing the film in more theatres than permitted by KFCC. The decision came after more than 30 Kannada producers from Kannada Film Producers' Association (KFPA) demonstrated on Tuesday in front of KFCC against non-Kannada movies, including Magadheera. They alleged that the distributors of non-Kannada films were pulling strings to expand screening opportunities for their big budget films in Karnataka. According to KFCC rules, non-Kannada films can be screened simultaneously in not more than 14 single screen theatres and three multiplexes in Bangalore and four other centres in the state. The film should be released seven weeks after its release. But Magadheera was released in 51 theatres in the state immediately after its release in Andhra Pradesh. Vijayakumar was not available to comment on the development. According to sources, Vijayakumar, who bought the distribution rights of Magadheera for Rs. 1.5 crore,  has already earned Rs. 4 crore in first week.
