Love Aaj kal narrates the tale of two couples set few generations apart. The movie focusses on the challenges the two couples face to be together. If the challenge faced by the one in past is about the taboo associated with the love marriage the problem faced by new couple is the confusion of what they really want.The narration runs in parallel switching of from present to past and its very interesting. The dialogue is mostly cliched n doesnt suit the characters of desi people (or may be desham is changing...I donno ). And there are a couple of songs n scenes that come from no where and make the proceedings a bit boring here n there. But the movie is filled with full of those special moments that really make a love story success. Like Towards the end the seperation aspect of the love is dealt with such a conviction n the dialogue in those scenes complement them so nicely that when u come out of the theatre u come with a smile on ur face. The performance of saif in both the roles is awesome. He is in full form whenever he had to show the pain but was ok when trying to be cool. The two lead actress look absolutely gorgeous.Damn. But thats about it. They act like shxt. But they r so gorgeous that u tend to forgive that . Deepika looks like a typical GF when required. The cinematography and the usage of vibrant colours in BG is very pleasant to eyes. There r very few songs in narration n most of them are situational and yeh dhooriyan stands out and the dir cleverly uses it at the perfect times to bring out the the maximum effect. This is not a great movie and its illogical but its a very pleasant one too. Go watch it. |
