In an extraordinary gesture, Assembly Speaker N Kirankumar Reddy on Thursday expressed regrets over the harsh words he had used against the Opposition TDP members during heated exchanges in the House yesterday. âI am also new to this job. If my words have hurt anyone, I express my regrets,â Reddy, the first-time Speaker, told the members as soon as the House assembled for the day. The Speaker had chided the Opposition members on Wednesday for storming into the well and stalling the proceedings. He asked TDP MLA Muddu Krishnama Naidu to âshut up and sit downâ and that led to severe criticism from all political parties. Surprisingly, Telugu Desam president N Chandrababu Naidu, for the first time, complimented the Speaker for gracefully admitting the mistake. âThe Speaker has behaved in a dignified manner,â he said |
