No don't read his blog ...As to Rand, I am a huge fan of Fountainhead and to some extent Atlas Shrugged, not all her writing. Fountainhead, I believe, is a must read for every young person...to get in touch with yourself and understand what drives you to do what you do... aa chal ke tujhe main leke chalu ik aise gagan ke tale jahan gam bhi na ho, aansoo bhi na ho,bas pyaar hi pyaar pale |

Nisarga:
I look at it very simplistically in terms of a context level diagram - a human is an entity interacting with various external factors and system. The only goal of the entity is to exist comfortably and propagate(to some extent though this seems to be on the decline). Comfortable existence means fulfilling all the needs progressively up Maslow's pyramid, from basic to self-actualization.. Hatred manifests when any of these needs is threatened...basic and security needs are self-explanatory .. perceived threats to esteem needs get interesting Esteem needs are fulfilled predominantly in two ways - by absolute means or by relative/comparative means People whose esteem is self-reliant march to their own drummer, have no need for approval from others and do not waste their energies hating others e.g. Howard Roark People whose esteem depends on a relative scale - am I better than another will either try to improve themselves and/or denigrate the opponent/idea down, because of the need to see a difference in level to feel good about themselves - the genesis of hate How many points do I get ? aa chal ke tujhe main leke chalu ik aise gagan ke tale jahan gam bhi na ho, aansoo bhi na ho,bas pyaar hi pyaar pale |

Nisarga:this question carries 100 points
Nisarga:but i guess these can be a good pointers to help think further at a biological level:
pisakaalogy prakaaram.... -->people njoy making fun of others -->people need silly excuses to hate some one and make fun of them |

It is virtually true that we all have point of views, prenotions or prejudices towards some ideas or groups or individuals. it is more likely that we see the things thru these colors.most of the time seeing the things objectively is to be learned or practiced. let us try to understand why this is so. try to figure out the reasons at cognitive level and then may be at deeper biological level if any. I would like the interested parties to objectively introspect and try to answer the questions like below or answer your own questions you feel relevant. Why do you hate an idea or a person? and why are you for an idea or a person? it wud be better if examples can be given. some pointers to the reasons I could think of ( these may be intermediate reasons may not be the fundamental ones -- if there are any) : our hatred or favoritism is out of: you hate an idea or a person when it/he/she is the cause of or involved in: 1) when your dignity, pride, belief or supremacy is at stake 2) physically detrimental to your existence 3) detrimental to your in-group pride/dignity 4) attachment to an idea or person and the mental inertia it causes 5) fear of change...fear of destabilization ...fear of coming out of comfort zone i know these reasons are not orthogonal. but i guess these can be a good pointers to help think further at a biological level: it could be that we may unconsciously favor homogenous gene pool which may help in the prosperity of our genes along with our in-group genes or homogenous genes. we may not realize these patterns at cognitive level!!? I guess I got this idea from Dawkin's 'Selfish Gene'. interested parties can take this discussion further. this question carries 100 points and they are shared among accepted and assisted answers . |
