The Institute of Preventive Medicine (IPM) has reported that water supplied by the Water Board contains 160 times more bacterial contamination than permitted. The IPM tested water at several points and reported that bacteria like E. coli were found in âdangerous levelsâ in Esamia Bazar, Mehdipatnam, Vattepally and Uppuguda. IPM tests found the E. coli count above 1,609 MPN (most probable number) per 100 millilitre in several places; the level should be less than 10. The presence of coliform bacteria shows that faecal matter has mixed with drinking water |
