Bhiku Driver Improvement Clinics When you satisfactorily complete a driver improvement clinic, you'll learn defensive driving techniques that can help you avoid and prevent crashes. These eight-hour classroom sessions cost no more than $75 and are offered at sites around the state and as a computer-based course on the Internet. Contact the court to be sure it will accept a computer-based course. Also, if you are under age 20, you must enroll in a clinic that provides classroom instruction. If DMV requires you to attend a clinic, you must complete the entire eight-hour course. If you fail to satisfactorily complete the clinic within 90 days, your driving privilege will be suspended until you meet this requirement. If you are attending college outside of Virginia or you are a member of the military or a military dependent and stationed outside of Virginia, you may be eligible for an extension of the 90-day requirement. The extension will be granted only if you are in an area where no approved clinics are offered. The extension will last until a break in your schedule. You may be awarded five safe driving points, once every 24 months, after you successfully complete a driver improvement clinic. The highest safe driving point balance you may accumulate on your driving record is five points. If a court requires you to complete a clinic, the court determines if you will be awarded safe driving points. | ||

Emc2 Which states are part of the driver license compact system? If I had an accident and/or ticket in NV, would it show up in TX or TN? The Drivers License Compact requires member states to report tickets received by motorist back to the state where they are licensed. Also under the DLC, when a state suspends the license of a driver who is from out of state, the state where the motorist received a license to drive will also suspend their license. The way in which member states will put this Compact into effect differs according to individual state statutes or laws. The current member list includes 46 states plus DC. Instead of listing all of those states, here is a list of states that are NOT currently members of the DLC: Georgia Massachusetts Michigan Tennessee Wisconsin Though these states are not part of the DLC they might have their own reciprocal agreement with states to exchange violation information between DMVs. Since Nevada and Texas are part of the DLC, an accident or violation in NV would show up in TX. The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) states that any out of state conviction for a traffic offense that meets the definition of a moving violation in TX will accrue points. According to the Driver Responsibility program of TX, 2 points are assigned for a moving violation conviction in Texas or that of any other state and 3 points for a moving violation conviction in Texas or another state that resulted in an accident. As for Tennessee, they dropped out of the DLC in 1997 so it would depend upon if they have a separate agreement with Nevada to receive violation and/or accident information. TN is part of the Non-Resident Violator Compact which means that if you do not comply with an out of state citation you license could be suspended in both states. | ||

Emc2 Bedar...now except 5 states all other state DMVs have a common network!! Take my case....I got a speeding ticket in PA (I am a VA driver) about 6 weeks ago and I plead guilty and paid the fine!! I called VA DMV about a week ago...they were informed by PA and as per VA point system they gave me 4 points!! Now about 3 weeks ago got a speeding ticket in NY!! Say I plead guilty again and pay off the penalty!! NY will inform VA and as per VA point system I was told by DMV that I will get 6 points! What I did...took a Driver Improvement Program 8 hour course which will give me +5 points!! So over all my points will be 4+6-5=5!! | ||
