Right, but how many of these TV shows are fine arts or sports oriented? How would you even know if the kid's natural aptitude is sculpturing for example if you never expose him to that? Almost all of these shows are either dance or singing based, what about others like painting, sculpturing, architecture etc? How would you know your kid is more interested in them than dance and acting? For god's sake they dont even know what they are singing there, at least teach them the basic musical notations before dragging them directly to sing complex raagas. My point is that nothing should be forced upon kids, just make them acquainted to different faculties and let them choose what they want. If they really want to dance that's fine. Fame and glory need not be the primary motivational factors for all the children, most of the times they are part of the hidden agenda of their parents.
Even most of the adults don't know how to handle failure, how would you expect children to learn handle it even if their parents are mature? | ||

In the field of fine arts, one should be groomed at a very young age. Most folks in fine arts or take sports, who are the best, have started their careers at a very young age. Aa molding anedi tender age lo ne avvaali.. By loosing, if a kid looses confidence, its not coz of their age.. it coz how they are taught and raised. If parents are not matured enough, yes, kid will suffer.. In this db, there's always someone watching you!!  | ||

Mallik bhai, its definitely a good idea to expose children to different things. However, that exposure should not drain their mental energies so much to an extent that it becomes a burden than entertainment. Performing just for the sake of their pure joy is one thing, competing with others at such pressure induced situations can have unwanted repercussions on their impressionable minds. Only the winner will be happier in such competitions, but the losers might take it badly and could have negative effects on their self-confidence  | ||

Saana pettatam lo tappu ledu - but tragedy would be if it breaks them or burn out before reaching the ability to handle it maturely... Last year or the year before I think one contestant of a show like this could not handle the criticism doled out by the judges , went into severe depression and paralysis ..don't know if she recovered....  Another show I saw a kid break down in the show and asking to withdraw..her reason -a co-contestant's dad had a heart-attack when told his daughter was eliminated and she thought something like that would befall her family and refused to sing... I don't like these kind of shows where children are trained hard for days together just for the purpose of entertaining audience. At that age, they need to go out and play with friends instead of wasting their golden days of childhood. They have rest of their lives to discover their talents. | ||
