I think u are unaware of the pro choice and pro life argument here in the west. please read about it and how thousands of women in the west refrain from breast feeding so that they can sustain their so called figure. It has become such a big issue that the Govt of UK and USA have sought the help of the church in advertising in favor of breast feeding.... USA has the highest child deaths below age 7 in all the WORLD........ even sri lanka and bangladesh do a better job than this.... That movie is such a socially irresponsible movie.....its a sordid depiction of how people here can stoop to any level in the name of liberty | ||

In recent times haven't seen anything so hard hitting n rebellious. The movie is a pessimistic look into an illusion called American dream. Two young revolutionists on a revolutionary road....Kate n leo The movie begins on a lighter note....a young, smart mouthed n extremely confident leo charming away a cute kate in a fraternity kinda party. Then they both hit the dance floor n get lost in the moments of sweet romance....that's the first time time they met.... And before u savor that pleasant ambiance n get lost in the in the magic of eternal romance on silver screen e dir sam mendes hits u right in the nose in the next scene....right in the fckin nose.... the scene cuts to a interiors of a theater where(kate n leo r married now), kate a bad actress in movie is starring in a badly written play....Leo is in audience....the play ends n audience r booing...n they particularly have bitter criticism in store for kates character n leo in audience had to hear everything....The play ends n they both r going home on an interstate n leo tries his best to cheer his wife who is tormented by the fact that her play is a flop n her passion for acting is not working....The conversation which is supposed to be cheering up kate suddenly turns into an argument....A bitter verbal battle of how the opposite in the relation ship is fcked up......And u have see their faces.....damn its full of unhappiness,sad n confused....its scary.... The first two shots say everything....Its a picture perfect portrayal of how two independent free spirited personalities r b4 n after marriage.... They have everything which an American dream is supposed to have....A beautiful house, children and a highly paid job for the husband.... But the monotonicity dat comes with a married life is depicted so depressingly in this movie that its disgusting but u cant take ur eyes away from the screen.... Its cinema at its best.... So the wife fed up with this boring life has a proposition for her husband to make their life exciting....To migrate to paris where she can work n the husband can pursue his passion which is definitely not the work he is currently doing....She just wants both of them to be happy..... The husband buys into it and they start planning for it n they announce for everyone dat they r doing it..... When everything,s going fine kate gets pregnant with her third child.so leo reacts as any responsible would do.....he chooses to be responsible than being happy.....he puts his child and and family first than to his happiness....kate is devastated....the paris plan is her last shot for finding happiness and it seems slipping away from her. Her sadness becomes bitter and slowly starts driving her to depression and insanity (dats wat how we perceive it).....And the things she does in the climax right or wrong perfectly justifies her character..... Kate rocked as a dejected housewife not contempt with the suburban life style....through out the movie there is so much sadness in her face that its scary....U sympathize with her for getting trapped in that maze....U feel sad for her when her plans go in vain....and u will abuse her for the path she choses in the climax.....The breakfast scene in the climax which is like a goodbye to leo from her is classic and the call she makes to her kids for the last time and how she choses not to talk to them......its touching..... The movie belongs to leo.....he perfectly portrayed the role of a person struggling over to find his priorities in a married life....his desperation to save his marriage and his helplessness to convince kate to give up the plan I mean he rocked.....The scene in which he returns home after cheating on his wife and finds his wife n kids giving him a a warm welcome on his birthday....the pathos,guilt ans warmth that he shows in one second....he is one of the best actors of this generation…..And again his performance in the breakfast scene..... Sam mendes whenever he deals with a script which has a complex family structure he is in full form.....he proved it again with this one....kudos to him for chosing such a rebellious plot.... This movie has an excellent director....a first rate cinematographer and one of the finest actors of this generation and an interesting and a complex story to tell....this is cinema at its best..... Coming to morals....Some people r content with walking....Some people meant to fly.....and when a person meant to fly chose to walk then he or she is trekking on a revolutionary road and the end is sometimes tragic..... Awesomeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.....must see for movie lovers..... | ||
