This was a movie made for doordarshan , don't think it got a theatrical release... Glad you finished the movie and liked it...true confidence building is more critical in the formative years but it is never too late - see too many people with very low self-esteem plodding thru life and it is heartbreaking... But that apart ...coming back to the movie itself... It is allegorical... Barishkar, shown as a person here, is a reference to your own consciousness... If you recall his introduction when asked who are you... Main, dilon mein rehta hun ummedon mein basta hon sapnon mein jeeta hoon aur gam peeta hoon Jab bhi koi sapna murjhata hai ummed sookhti hai armaan jhulas jaata hai tab main aata hoon aake baras jaata hoon... What a beautiful reference... he comes with the promise of rain in a drought ... However, the drought refenced in his introduction is not physical , it is the emotional drought of dried up dreams, broken hopes and a fear of emotions... He comes with a promise of rain on that barren emotional wasteland, to replenich and rejuvenate that land into a rich , fertile, colorful fantasy land where imagination and joy knows no boundaries... Today is my lucky day ... been looking for this movie for years ...and a chance search landed me on the you tube link God bless the soul who uploaded this movie... For those who hae not seen the movie it is directed by Amol Palekar, stars Nana Patekar and the movie happens in a lot of verse/poetry This movie is a sensitive depiction of how self-esteem or lack thereof, can impact how people live their lives... How a chance encounter with a stranger sometimes can make people look at themselves differently and transform their lives...
