A father-son duo of judges was arrested on Friday for demanding dowry. The district judge of Mahbubnagar, Mr T. Nar-simha Rao, his wife, and his son, Mr T. Kiran Kumar, junior civil judge of Anan-tapur, were arrested following charges of dowry harassment by Dr T. Shashi-kala, wife of Mr Kiran Kumar. The family was arrested and produced at the Nam-pally court and remanded to judicial custody till July 3. Dr Shashikala finished her medicine course this year and has been staying at her parents’ house in the city for the last one year. Her father, Mr Ramulu, owns a theatre in the city. The couple had married in 2005. At the time, the family had demanded and got 100 tola gold and Rs 5 lakh in cash. Over time, there were more demands. “The girl’s father transferred property worth Rs 2 crore in her name but that did not help,” said Mr R.S. Praveen Kumar, DCP of detective department. |
