Simba:You will not get any audio through HDMI when connecting from PC (be it VGA or DVI). You need to run audio cable (S/PDIF) from PC to TV for audio. BTW, do you have receiver and speakers setup? This will make connections simpler.

Simba:The PC input on Samsung is just VGA port (analog). Instead connect DVI out on PC to HDMI in on the TV which is digital and full HD connection. So, you are not missing anything choosing Panasonic.

Rebel:why are u saying it don't have PC connection ? It had s video which u can connect to ur PC while samsung don't...
You don't want to connect PC to TV via S-video, it will output in SD resolution (480p max) The PC input on Samsung is just VGA port (analog). Instead connect DVI out on PC to HDMI in on the TV which is digital and full HD connection. So, you are not missing anything choosing Panasonic. |

Truelies:If your TV has VGA input, you can connect using VGA cable. If TV doesn't have VGA cable, you can connect using S-video cable.
With VGA (analog) and DVI (digital) you are sending HD video to TV. S-Video carries a maximum resolution of 480p (SD). |

DVD+RW is different from DVD-RAM which can be reused far more times than the former. Some of the panasonic camcorders write to mini DVD-RAM so you can reuse the disc many times. |

Powerfull:That's true. You have to first create a DVD, then only you can edit. Mine is more than 2 yrs old, its "RCA DVD recorder".
Some of the recorders (usually panasonic) support DVD-RAM format. You can burn a DVD-RAM disc with the video (from DVD recorder), then load it into PC and import as DVD video for editing. This DVD-RAM can be erased and reused upto 10000 times (in theory) |

Truelies:ee option kooda bavundi..what is the brand and model of recorder? but disadvantage is it directly creates the DVD. what if you want to edit some unwanted stuff etc..
Almost, every manufacturer has DVD-recorders. Go for the one which has built-in Hard Disk. This was you can dump DVR/camcorder/VCR footage into HDD first, play from there anytime like DVR and burn a DVD with those footage. They usually allow basic editing but very limited/primitive compared to pc-based editing. |

Powerfull:I bought a DVD recorder that creates DVDs from camcorders. It has a RCA video IN also. I can connect DVR's Video out to this Video IN and create a DVD.
Yes, this is another option to capture video and quickly cut a disc. But, if you need part of the video as file to share with friends/family, you need pc-based solution. |

Truelies:one more question..i don't have DVR at home..just a regular HD box..can i hook on this to my cable box, and capture the live picture to my computer?
This card is just video encoder, it lacks tuner. There are many options if need one like that. External kaavali ante go for this which is suitable for laptops. For desktops, you can choose PCI card like this. I use this internal card, feeding one cable from cablevision and one from OTA for HDTV. Works like charm. I can also connect any external player (vcr/camcorder/dvr) and capture the video as file. Very convenient. |

Mallik:Adhe chethho, avi files to dvd writer software cheppu mama.. not the one which takes 2hrs to write.. oka 30mins lo raashedi cheppu..
AVI files nu first mpeg format lo convert cheyyali (because DVD is mpeg-2 based) which takes time. So, most authoring software first convert chesi, then creates the right folder structure, andhuke time ekkuva theesukunnatlu anipistundi. Actual dvd burning does not take long. My favorite dvd/bd authoring software is Ulead/Corel DVDMovieFactory. It can take any file format and create a DVD out of it (including bluray). |
