Typically ATA Nominating committee receives nominations from interested candidates to serve on the Board. Unfortunately there were more candidates (about 50) this year and Nominating committee after careful deliberations have recommended a slate of candidates who they thought are best qualified to serve on the Board. There are only seven positions in this category. Several of non-selected members have withdrawn in the best interests of ATA and support the slate recommended by Nominating committee. However there are a few who have decided to contest elections. I strongly believe that the Nominating Committee has done its assigned job of vetting out each candidate and I trust the decision of five member body who must have deliberated well before the selection. I urge you to vote for the SLATE with a single check mark on left side of the ballot paper to send these people to govern the ATA affairs for next four years. check this email from ATA some time back. Dear ATA Members: Here they go again... one more misinformation and confusion about nominating committee slate, the nomination process and election procedures in place. The ATA constitution, bi-laws, and nominating process worked perfectly well right from the inception of the ATA for the last 17 years and the process of selecting nominating committee slate is well tested and stood the test of time and continue serve well this organization. In fact when we all joined this organization agreed to follow the existing constitution and its bylaws in place. In fact the people (other candidates) who are creating confusion and spreading misinformation, some of them who served this organization as trustees came through the very same process they are questioning As in any non-profit or professional organization, selections of candidates to fill various leadership positions are always entrusted to nominating committee for its recommendation. ATA is no exception to this process. Most importantly ATA is not a political organization, but it's a non-profit organization let us all keep in that way to serve best interest of Telugu Community in this country. The process of selecting nominating committee slate is well tested and stood the test of time and served well this organization and in brief the process is: Nominating committee consisting immediate past president, two trustees and two members at large solicits nominations for trustee candidates from all member at large through specific communication as well as through America Bharathi. Unfortunately there were more candidates (around 53) than the number of open positions (13 in all categories) this year and Nominating committee after careful deliberations have recommended a slate of candidates who they thought are best qualified to serve on the Board. Several of non-selected members have withdrawn (around 30 members) in the best interests of ATA and support the slate recommended by Nominating committee. However there are a few who have decided to contest elections. We strongly believe that the Nominating Committee has done its assigned job well in evaluating all candidates and we trust the decision of five member body that must have deliberated well before the selection. These guys ("other" candidates) talk about positive message and positive campaign while the very tone and substance of the message is full of negative tone and misinformation. Our request to "other" candidates is, don't start negative campaigning, such as criticizing the nominating committee, and it's procedures, which amounts to nothing but criticizing the very organization you want to serve. About mailing or missing ballots, ALL ballots are assembled and mailed at ONETIME FROM ONE LOCATION By FIRST CLASS US POSTAGE under the supervision of candidate as well as representatives of members at large by the election committee. As with any other mail, it is in the hands of US post office none of us can do anything about it. We urge you all to vote for the SLATE with a single check mark on left side of the ballot paper to send the Official nominating committee Slate recommended candidates to govern the ATA affairs for next four years.
