Yeah Kiterunner chadivanu - it had the backdrop but this is for a Geographpy project so anta effective kadu ...

Wrathchild:

Life of Pi is a great book and both me and my son enjoyed it but again - does not do much from the geography standpoint :-)

Thanks for all the suggestions though :-)

Thinking of " The Argumentative Indian" by Amartya Sen - I plan to read it first and see if it fits - has anyone read it ?

Then there are a couple of books by Shashi Tharoor- The Great Indian Novel and one more - need to check those out as well...

you are right, life of pi doesn't fit into that category. I didn't mention it for that reason only.

"kite runner" is a great book for book club discussions. NOt sure if it would be apt for a school project on Asia travelogues.

Of course Anand garu knows better :-)

It does not have to be about India actually - its world geography ... i just thought if he has to read and report on some part of the world, he might as well learn about India in the process :-) The teacher said the current favorite is actually "three cups of Tea"

wow! 300 pages! I really liked The search for the pink headed duck, but it's only 200 pages. Are any of Rudyard Kipling's books considered travelogues?

How about "the great railway bazaar" by Theroux? That's a humongo book. Does the book have to be completely about India?
