yes, there was a light focused on the target object. I took the same object with both canon and nikon. Nikon D5000 <canon> D5000 > XSi |

Jalsa:correctey. Did you compare your Nikon with Canon images? Okkatey doubt. Endhuku dull ga vachindhi ani
Jalsa brother, may be you should throw more cameras in comparison. Nikon D40 < Nikon D5000 < Canon Xsi < Canon T1i < Nikon D90 < Canon 50D < Nikon D300 < Canon 5D < Nikon D3 ... and the list goes on. Whatever brand you choose, you can always upgrade to better model (within the brand) in future, keeping all your accessories. Nuvvu aa pics store lo (under lights) theesava? Naa nikon (5year old D70) lo, I usually try in manual mode. I first set the ISO mode, then choose the aperture (F-stop) to get the right depth-of-field. Finally adjust the shutter speed to match. I can preview the exposure on the viewfinder, correct exposure if need be, before releasing the shutter. This is the basic operation for any DSLR. If you follow these steps you can not go wrong. |

Ok, almost decided to buy Canon XSi (450D), just because of the bright images it's rendering over the nikon d5000 (wanna buy nikon though) T1i LCD and ISO are the only advantages. I'm sure at such high ISO's we'll get unusable images. |

T1i (500D) is newer camera and has more features compared to Xsi (450D). Here is what I came across dpreview forum: They're both very, very similar 500D has 920k pixel 3"LCD screen, 450D has 230k pixel screen 500D ISO 100-12800, 450D 100-1600 500D has HDMI connector for direct viewing of pictures on HDTV, 450d has standard TV hook up Face detect in LV mode, face detect is not present on 450D |

//If you are really serious, you can buy both (may be from different stores), play for few days and return one. // I thought of this too. BB's return policy is not good. They'll charge 15% restocking fee. I'll have to buy from Costco. If I buy canon, Xsi suggest chestara leka T1i aa? |

If you are really serious, you can buy both (may be from different stores), play for few days and return one. Your opinion may change once you take pictures at home, outside (sunlight), in night. Again, you might as well stick with Canon, but at least there will not be any buyer's remorse. |

Jalsa, Adding the swivel screen and video capturing makes D5000 expensive which is otherwise close to D40. From Ken Rockwell site: http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/d5000.htm The D5000 doesn't offer anything more than the D40, but costs twice as much. I'd get the D40, or go the short rest of the way to the far superior D90. The D5000, like the D40, D40x and D60, lacks most of the D90's extra control buttons that make the D90 such a masterpiece. In terms of command and control, the D5000 is the same as the D40: you need menus to select among AF-S, AF-C and AF-A modes, AF-area modes, WB trims and etc. |

I believe you can not go wrong with either Nikon or Canon. Though I am a Nikon fan, I can equally recommend Canon brand. In my opinion, Canon body is more ergonomic and moderately better from features and optical sensor perspective. Where Nikon excels is lenses. Nikon makes better lenses over Canon. D5000 is an entry level camera, so the kit lens is not up to the standards. When you switch to better Nikon lenses, it will beat Canon anyday!! Bottomline, if you don't have brand affiliation, you can go either way. Remember, you will be building your kit over the years adding more lenses/filters, flash and other accessories. These lenses do not work with other brand cameras, so take a plunge with long term plans. |

Last time DSLR thread vesinappudu mee suggestions ichaaru kadha, thank you for that. I went to bestbuy and have tried both Nikon and Canon cameras. Things I observed: 1) Grip : The Nikon D5000 did not fit snugly in my hand. The Canon Rebel Xsi and T1i did. 2) Images: Nikon D5000 lo images are coming a bit duller/darker than the Xsi and T1i. I tried to increase the exposure in D5000 and it worked a bit, kaani colors over expose avuthunnai. To get a second opinion, I asked my wife to look at the images and she also said the canon images are brighter with nice colors. I thought D5000 was giving a bit sharper images. Canon lo Xsi taruvatha model is T1i with 15 MP and Digic 4 processor (Xsi is Digic 3) Am unable to decide now b/w Nikon and Canon. If canon, then Xsi or T1i ani. |
