The Gujarat government has chalked out a Rs 5,000 crore ''Khushi Yojana'' for enhancing agricultural production and welfare of farmers of the state. ''Under the Khushi Yojna, each farmer will be given uninterrupted power supply through installation of individual transformers at every farm in 18,000 villages of the state,'' state Energy Minister Saurabh Patel told mediapersons here today, during inauguration of the new Rs 100-Crore plant of city-based Transformers and Rectifiers (India) Limited (T & R) at Moraiya, about 30 kms from here. The Khushi Yojna would be completed in 3-years time, Mr Patel said, adding ''The Yojna will not just provide 24-hours power supply to each and every farm of the state, but, will also prevent power theft as every connection will have unique transformers directly connected with the power-grids of the state-owned eletricity boards.'' The minister said ''The Modi Government has made collaboration with top 20 branded manufacturers of irrigation pumps in the state to provide energy effective irrigation-pumps to save eletricity and make Gujarat energy surplus.'' The cost of installing new irrigation pumps would be shared among Government, state-owned eletricity companies and farmers. This sharing would be 50, 45 and 5 per cent among these three respectively.
