An extract from the recent discussions held in the United Nations Organisation (UNO) about Kashmir.... An ingenious example of speech and politics occurred recently in the United Nations Assembly that made the world community to smile. A representative from India began: 'Before beginning my talk I want to tell you something about Rishi Kashyap of Kashmir, after whom Kashmir has been named. When Rishi struck a rock it brought forth water, He thought, 'What a good opportunity to have a bath.' He removed his clothes, put them aside on the rock and entered the water. When he got out and wanted to dress, his clothes had vanished. A Pakistani had stolen them.' At that time suddenly The Pakistani representative who was in UNO meet had jumped up furiously and shouted, 'What are you talking about? The Pakistanis weren't there then.' The Indian representative smiled and said, 'Yes. that is what the comment I wanted to hear from you and now that you have made that clear to the world, I will now begin my speech.' "...And they in Pakistan say Kashmir belongs to them..." |
