Well, old Hyderabadi culture gurinchi cheppatam seems to have not gone well with some people .. naaku telisina Hyd was a lot different .. My dad as a young guy in his 20s came to this nawabi shehar from another nawabi shehar (Bhopal). Since then, city has gone undergone so much of change that I some times feel, how unfortunate to have chosen 'development'! veedhi chivara chai kosam cafe laki badulu .. area ki okati rendu coffee day lu vachayi .. those innumerable pani puri/chat bhandars at street corners .. tiffin centres .. rajasthani snacks .. "patang udaana" .. holi .. ganesh chaturthi .. diwaali ko bamb .. dassera .. eid mubarraks .. curfews ! I still remember going to tank bund and spending there with my family for 3-4 hours in a good evening .. these days .. tank bund is developed so much with good paved roads, hi-fi joints like eat streets .. imported decorative items along the bund .. but it destroyed what was a "natural habitat" for humans and today we can see, no body opts for sitting at tank bund ! hyd used to have a lazy charm in late 80s....i agree..... okka saari late 90s ki elli soosthey mind block iindhi....assalki a charminar X roads fulthoo change....but development always pushes the tradition down....happens.... but Boston is a classic example of how the old style of the city is still intact with due recognition given to development....u will get both the colonial feeling and the metro feelin in dat city | ||

I agree my fav article on Hyd Hyderabad is a charming city with a most delightfully unhurried air to it. A city where ambition left its nemesis, satisfaction behind and moved towards another civilisation. To the average Hyderabadi, time is something to be savoured, not lost to the dizzying speed of modern life. He's a left lane man, the Hyderabadi, drives his scooter contentedly while the limousines hurry past. He cannot, for example, understand the fulfilment that the Bombayman gets in scrambling aboard the 6:18 fast from Churchgate, his left foot perennially aspiring to be ahead of his right. Or that obsessive all encompassing urge to get 99.3 per cent in the optionals in the 12th standard. He'd much rather let a crowded bus go by and continue talking about Madhuri Dixit in Tezaab. Or better still, walk across to the Irani restaurant on the corner and chat over a bun-muska and one by two chai. On a good day, he would order a pauna instead. CBN second term started the phase of massive economic expansion in twin cities...unfortunately, as a result the decades old Hyderabadi charm took the back seat and eventually is getting lost in the doldrums... old cafes with broken chairs and cracked stones for tables gave way to mini shopping complexes many cinema halls were converted to hotels, shopping complexes... ekkada padithay akkada intermediate colleges etc...
