I followed it for some time too..as I was opener too.. it gives an advantage for over pitched deliveries if you want to hit over the top.. you save the time on putting a foot forward.. it also helps the pull shot..saves time on taking a foot backward..but sometimes it puts you in bad position...specially against spin... | ||

he is very good attacker but cannot reliable where as richards is equally reliable and aggressive. He never scared of any bowler in his days. my coach used to comment about richards is when he drives or hits the ball even if it is straight to fielder they are scared of to stop the ball its bcos the ball comes with raket speed... that kind of power in his shots...amazing player Driving is my PASSION. I heard/read that he was predecessor of Kapil Dev.. there was one test which was called Vinoo Mankad test at Lords.. Later we had a test which almost got called Kapil Dev's test at Lords.. The only player I really miss watching is B.S.Chandrashekar.. mama Batsmen needed a lot of time to evolve in desam..we had top class spin bowlers but no batsmen....may be one of the reason is not having enough pace resources in india to practice against...I mean we had players but no star batsman....A Vishi or a gavaskar are the ones who can come close to be compared to sachin....we didnt have any one till then anukuntunna..... | ||

he was a decent player as far as i know. Playing with one eye anedhi, its unfortunate, but you cant claim someone as a great batsmen as he played with one eye.
