I don't have answers to any of your questions. But these are good questions which nobody can prove whether Rama actually did it or not. Whatever Valmiki wrote centuries ago, we Hindus believe it. You will find critics for every great person. Like for example Christians call Jesus Christ as son of god. But his birth itself is questionable to several others. You can Google sins of Jesus Christ you will find thousands of articles on the web. So, what example Mother Mary set to the world. Allah preached violence (jihad) against infidels (non believers), we know the consequence of this in the world. Gautham Buddha (was womanizer) left his family(including his kid)and went to forest in search of nobody knows what? He is great for some including BR Ambedker. So try to look at good qualities of the great people like Rama, Jesus, Allah, Buddha and Gandhi. | ||

there are 3 ways you can see at Raama, 1). incarnation of vishnu 2). King 3). character in raamayana. if some one looks at Rama as # 1, there ends the discussion. no more questions. if some one sees rama as either king or a character in ramayana, then ramayana and life of rama is open to all questions. anand_n it was not directed to you but again if you quote either of them then my answer would have been same certain people because of their childhood or something else (like ambedkar etc.,) always hated hinduism and created venom against hinduism to rest others which spoiled the whole country. having said that i dont want to demean ambedkar but my feeling is there are always some positives and negatives in any such stuff and so called medhavulu of india always liked to critise only hinduism stuff and thats what i hate the most | ||

The eyes episode is not from Ramayana - it is from one of the child bhakta stories - Prahlada anukunta... There are two ways of looking at Rama and Ramayana.. First one - Rama is God. Gods can do no wrong. People who believe this will find justifications for everything he did .. Second one - Rama is a character in Ramayana - then you can look at his actions without the emotions /sentiments coming in the way. I belong to the second group. To me all actions in Ramayana and Mahabharata are motivated by political expediency .. Depending on the incident , good and evil are both casualties..Good does not always win over evil...and you cannot derive a consistent code of conduct from either epic. Rama to my mind failed as a king when he banished Sita.Justice is a primary duty of a king . Punishing Sita ,knowing full well she was innocent negates that duty as a king, apart from reneging on his duty as a husband...he did it to appease a section of people - and we wonder where political appeasement came from

I don't think any sane person would talk to his wife this way..especially after so much time she spent in ravana's custody. Yes, it was Sita's wish to visit forest once. Regarding eyes - RAMA orders laxman to bring back Sita's eyes as a proof because he knows that Laxman respects sita a lot and may not leave her there. Laxman couldn't do that so he kills a LADY (Jinka) and bring's it's eyes as proof. Because Sita's eyes were so close to jinka kallu.

2nd doubt: Let's just say, RAMA had a good reason (best known to him) for leaving Sita. He could have simply asked her to leave or he could've sent her to her parents. Isn't it cruel to ask Laxman to leave Sita in a FOREST? Isn't it a Barbaric act to order Laxman to REMOVE Sita's eyes while leaving her in forest... especially when she is PREGNANT? A king (or leader) should live as a role model for general public. Right? So what should RAMA do when he hears a allegation from a illiterate drunkard?
