Rocky Thanks for the valuable suggestions. I do have an account in SBI but never used it after coming to US. Their quality of service is very bad.But in terms of safety as you said, its the safest place to invest. Bonds and Treasury bills - could you throw some light on it. How do i invest ? |

Vakkapodi:After satyam fiasco, though i have not invested anything in there, i am having second thoughts about putting all my eggs in one basket (ING)
Dont think all companies are risk because of satyam experience... You can invest in following shares if you want 1) Apple( High Risk....High Returns) 2) Google(Medium risk....Medium returns or high returns) 3) Microsoft(Low risk....low returns or medium returns) |

Vakkapodi:I have put some money in ICICI for my parents. I am scared to deposit any more money in there Remember sometime back everyone started withdrawing money from ICICI ... there was a rumour that ICICI is going to declare bankruptcy. Are government banks like SBI safe ?
SBI is the safest. ICICI is also safe. ICICI gurinchi anni rumors. HDFC is also good. General ga hedging ante if you have say $100 - how much of that $100 u want to put in absolutely safe investments? Say your risk level is only 30% - then 1. of the remaining $70 - put some 40% in fixed deps, 30% in some bonds, treasury bills etc so that aboslutely safe and liquid. 2. remainign $30 is ur risk money which u may want to put in stocks or gamble et '' But since u said u are risk averse, that is 0% risk, you can put $100 in safe places. But in this global market better put some in US and some in India, again in 2 or 3 banks so that u r not exposing all money to one bank to avoid risk there. |

I put all my savings in ING savings account. Infact, 70% of my monthly savings go into this account. The rest remain in the checking account. After satyam fiasco, though i have not invested anything in there, i am having second thoughts about putting all my eggs in one basket (ING) I am not a risk taker and therfore not invested in any shares so far. I would like to put my savings in multiple places so that even if lose money in one account, i'll still have money to rely on the other. Need your suggestions on other investment options. |
