I believe that Infosys has ethically done the right thing by announcing that it won't recruit Satyam employees. I'm sure that all of you must have come to know about the Satyam debacle by this time. Everything has gone haywire at Satyam. Their bank balance has been reported to be negative. Most of the Board members of Satyam have already quit. Their balance sheet does not match with the bank statements etc etc.. The only assets that Satyam is left with at this point of time is it employees and few projects. If at this time, the employees start deserting the company or other oragnisations start poaching the employees of Satyam then it would ring the death bell for Satyam. Infosys could probably at this point of time hire big names of Satyam by paying very low remunarations because employees of Satyam wont have the bargaining power now. I would also like to think that employees of Satyam would be even ready to work at lower salary than what they were drawing at Satyam. Probably Infosys has lost out on a golden oppurtunity to recruit good resources at a price which is lot less than current market price. This could be termed as a bad business decision. But ethically this is probably the best decision i have seen or heard in a long time. This is probably the best time to get rid of your competitor by taking away from them their best employees. But Infosys has not done that. Infosys has risen above competition and is actually helping its rival organisation by not taking away their resources from them during their time of crisis. It is actually giving its rival an oppurtunity to get its act together and pull itself up from its current situation. I think this is what true competition is all about. Decision makers of many other organisations may think that this decision of Infosys is foolish and they may go ahead and hire Satyamites. This is the difference between Infosys and other oragnisations. And this difference should be there. After all its ethics, high moral standards and excellent corporate governance that Infosys follows, makes it one of the most respected names in the world of IT business. | ||

I agree  I think this kind of cannnibalism by desi IT companies should not be strongly discouraged. Satyam has sound infrastructure, processes and people..if some infusion is given to keep the engine running, I think they can become viable... i said operations these people can take care .. setting the direction and strategies .. well, i dont think satyam in a position right now to do that now ... satyam anyway needs somebody to get the cash flows back on track .. so once that happens, anyway that entity will look in to these aspects ..
