Rajusk:AFAIK, this Third Eye does contribute to the absorption of the knowledge and is very active until the age of 7...after which it slowly becomes inactive and eventually becomes dormant.. hence the reason why ancient seers used to initiate the education around the age of 5..so that to maximize the potential usage of this third eye...the AJNA chakra..
The science explanation for initiation before 7 - a child is born with many floating synapses (connectors)in the brain...Based on the experiences a child is exposed to these synapses make the connectsions in the brain.. Most of these synapses fall into place by 7 , and almost all by 12.. which is why it is important to expose the child to as many varied experiences as possible before 7 years of age ... Chakra after 7 weaken avutundi ani naaku telidu ... will have to dig a lil info on that ... aa chal ke tujhe main leke chalu ik aise gagan ke tale jahan gam bhi na ho, aansoo bhi na ho,bas pyaar hi pyaar pale |

Tendulkar is egoless, gracious god : British media Press Trust of India Friday, December 19, 2008 (London) Sachin Tendulkar is god to billion Indians but he is a "gracious god" who lifts his people out of the pit of despair in the wake of Mumbai terror attacks, a leading British newspaper said, paying tribute to the champion batsman who has "not a scrap of ego". Tendulkar offered balm to a country which was devastated by terror attacks in its finacial capital yet he remained a modest god, according to a write-up in 'Daily Telegraph' "He (Tendulkar) is an unlikely-looking god. He stands there in the middle dwarfed by the gigantic Andrew Flintoff and the strapping Yuvraj Singh, a boy-like figure with a cherubic face whose Michelin man-style pads come half way up his thigh," Simon Hughes wrote. "The poor Indian lifts his hands to Sachin Tendulkar in supplication; Give us respite, a sense of liberation; lift us up from the dark pit of our lives to well-lit places of the imagination with your skill-wrought perfection. He has not a scrap of ego. He is a gracious god. We will never see his like again". The writer said that Tendulkar never shirked his enormous responsibility and spent considerable time preparing for a game. "Tendulkar never shirks this enormous responsibility. He spends almost every waking hour seeking that perfection, practising, planning, preparing. He rings his brother, the man who knows his game best, every day, talking bowlers and bat angles and shot selection. He looks at the pitch and contemplates how he will make runs on it. He is thankful of his talent and dutifully delivers it to his public, the majority of whom have nothing," Hughes wrote. A self-effacing man who keeps his emotions private, Tendulkar's inner urge to express the hurt caused to him by the audacious terror attack at the city he was born and brought up led him to dedicate his century in Chennai to the people of Mumbai and India, but he admits it was not his nature to play the role of a statesman too often. "Sometimes I do it, but it is not my way," Tendulkar was quoted as saying by the newspaper. "Tendulkar lives in Bandra, in the north of Mumbai, Bollywoodville. But he often goes south to Colaba with family and friends, to eat in the Taj Mahal Palace hotel or the Oberoi. "The Mumbai attacks were close to home and affected him deeply. The England players remarked on his extra patience and intensity at the crease. This time he was doubly determined to lift his people out of their pit," the article said. Tendulkar wields a heavy bat unusual for his small frame, but he says he would not be the same batsman without his willow. "I like a bow in it. I can't bat with anything else. I would not feel right at the crease," the master batsman said. Naa old id: Janak Janak Paayal Baajhe |

Anand_n:while I was trying to make sense of the chakra theory I came across the correlation to the endocrine system
I know of a person ..in Hyderabad...who measures the strength of each of the chakras..and then figures out which chakra is weak.. Based on which chakra is weak certain body parts are either affected by it already or likely to be affected in the future.. This happened to my brother...he told my brother that you are having a liver issue probably (after using his measurement tool that he invented)..my brother never had liver problems..but after that he went to the Diagnostic center and they did confirm that he was issues around the liver at that time When I went to him...he told me after running his tool...that my right shoulder is probably messed up..and he is right..( I did not tell him before hand..but I knew I had issues with it)...I getting MRI done today..got X-Rays done last week from a sports medicine Ortho..and also on top of it i will be undergoing Physio theraphy .. |

Nisarga:time travel makes no sense. it is just not possible.
I dont agree with this sentence.....Time travel will be possible....even Einstein released his theory of special relativity, he laid the foundation for the theoretical possibility of time travel. Time is also defined as being the fourth dimension of our universe. According to Einstein's theory of special relativity, time slows as an object approaches the speed of light. This leads many scientists to believe that traveling faster than the speed of light could open up the possibility of time travel to the past as well as to the future. |

Nisarga:some questions: 1) Do the activity changes in brain give rise to the same experience/qulia in all? 2) how does meditation cause physical changes ** not only meditation, all the thoughts/experience must cause changes in physical brain. so how do we know which one is responsible for which. which one is the cause and which one is the affect? it is evident in some studies that for a conscious activity in the experience plane there is prior unconscious activities in the brain before it gets in to conscious domain.
I don't have answers but I do have theories based on experiences - mine and a few other people - totally unsubstantiated ofcourse.. Do the activity changes in brain give rise to the same experience/qulia in all? --- Seemingly does ...the duration and effort to reach there probably differs but as long as people have the same frame of reference the visions, sensations etc are surprisingly similar... How does meditation cause physical changes - Theory A : By triggering hormonal changes that then cause the physical changes ... while I was trying to make sense of the chakra theory I came across the correlation to the endocrine system Theory B : Thought is electromagnetic impulse (I believe) and when focussed can bring about physical changes - they were trying to make a video game where you strap the controller to your forehead and it can sense your intention - scientifically already proved
Nisarga:it is evident in some studies that for a conscious activity in the experience plane there is prior unconscious activities in the brain before it gets in to conscious domain.
This I know from personal experience ) Can't share in a public DB but a lot happens in the unconscious sometimes we refuse to..and even after soemthing happens in the conscious..we refuse to acknowledge or give credence to it Nisarga:i dont know what you mean by maya but if it is instant disappearance from a place,
No , By Maya I mean the theory that this whole existence is just an illusion/perception aa chal ke tujhe main leke chalu ik aise gagan ke tale jahan gam bhi na ho, aansoo bhi na ho,bas pyaar hi pyaar pale |

Anand_n:Time and dimensions- whole another realm - is our existence here real - or just our perception in another dimension - a dream that will dissolve, concept of Maya - its scientifically possible :-) A friend and I were discussing outsize skulls found in Mexico - he threw out an idea - what if the skulls are not in the past but future ...civilization is right now at that advanced state of evolution of 15 ft tall humans and we are actually timetravelling in the past with no cognisance of the fact.. technically incorrect because the skulls would not be there now (I think) .. but brought up the question of reference point for time...what is TIME NOW - depends on who and when you ask maybe ? :-)
i dont know what you mean by maya but if it is instant disappearance from a place, it may be possible if one can create wormholes in the spacetime. it is said that aliens' UFOs can create wormwholes to traverse the universe fast( faster than light). time travel makes no sense. it is just not possible. |

Anand_n:Associated with both cosmic and inner knowledge and thought to be a place of clarity and peace, the Third Eye is considered by many to be the seat of the soul. Were we seeing an indication that deep meditation can open an area of the brain responsible for communicating with the divine, looking deep into the mysteries of self or creation? I believe the PET scan revealed what I call the brains D-spot. Whether you consider the D in D-spot to stand for delight, the divine or even dopamine, the chemical through which our bodies experience pleasure, initial indications are that meditation can stimulate it.
So....certain parts of brain are activated during meditation. those parts are learnt associated with certain experiences.so what we can say is: 1) meditation can activate the parts of brain that are associated with certain experiences 2) Those parts can also be activated using some drugs or with some other mechanism 3)meditation or drugs or what ever mechanism -- for any experience there are corresponding changes in brain activity. activity in brain which physical is necessary condition for any experience some questions: 1) Do the activity changes in brain give rise to the same experience/qulia in all? 2) how does meditation cause physical changes ** not only meditation, all the thoughts/experience must cause changes in physical brain. so how do we know which one is responsible for which. which one is the cause and which one is the affect? it is evident in some studies that for a conscious activity in the experience plane there is prior unconscious activities in the brain before it gets in to conscious domain. |

Nisarga:what I mean is there are changes in some parts of brain which correspond to the experiences in human consciousness.
Check this out if you have not seen this before ...on changes in the brain Imaging Brain Activity Our first look into Swamiâs brain was achieved with the help of a Positron Emission Tomography (PET) device. Unlike traditional diagnostic techniques that produce images of the bodyâs structure or anatomy, such as X-rays, CT scans or MRI, PET produces images of the function of the brain through the metabolic activity of cells. An analog of glucose is attached to a radioactive PET tracer. The PET scanner then images the metabolically active brain areas at any given time. In the case of Swami, the drug was intended to identify highly active areas of the brain in an alert and conscious state, in the early stages of meditation and during deep meditation. The results of the PET scan tests were stunning. To begin with, the activity in the frontal lobes of Swamiâs brain were significantly heightened, even in early meditation stages. The level of activity was higher than would be seen in the average human brain under any conditions. The frontal lobes are associated with the functions of intelligence, attention, wisdom and judgement. When we then asked Swami to go into the deepest meditation state, there were two more remarkable findings. First, the dominant hemisphere of Swamiâs brain was more than 90 percent shut down. It was as if Swamiâs brain had packed up and gone on vacation. It was quiet and still, completely at peace ⦠and Swami had made it so at will. A second amazing aspect of Swamiâs deep meditation was that the lower portion of his mesial frontal areas lighted up in a very significant way. This area roughly corresponds to the reputed location of the mystical âThird Eye.â Associated with both cosmic and inner knowledge and thought to be a place of clarity and peace, the Third Eye is considered by many to be the seat of the soul. Were we seeing an indication that deep meditation can open an area of the brain responsible for communicating with the divine, looking deep into the mysteries of self or creation? I believe the PET scan revealed what I call the brainâs âD-spot.â Whether you consider the âDâ in D-spot to stand for delight, the divine or even dopamine, the chemical through which our bodies experience pleasure, initial indications are that meditation can stimulate it. Nisarga:And what i can assume(harp on rather ) is there exists nothing outside material world that is completely responsible or corresponds to consciousness/experience/qualia. the thing that is responsible for consciousness/experience/qualia must be integral part of the material world, the material world is inclusive of it.
Agree with that - atleast the way I defined God and spirit for myself is God is all that exists, unified as a single entity - and my spirit is my existence within that God body - You can call it material world - but there are components, interactions and dependencies in that material world that science has not discovered / defined yet Time and dimensions- whole another realm - is our existence here real - or just our perception in another dimension - a dream that will dissolve, concept of Maya - its scientifically possible A friend and I were discussing outsize skulls found in Mexico - he threw out an idea - what if the skulls are not in the past but future ...civilization is right now at that advanced state of evolution of 15 ft tall humans and we are actually timetravelling in the past with no cognisance of the fact.. technically incorrect because the skulls would not be there now (I think) .. but brought up the question of reference point for time...what is TIME NOW - depends on who and when you ask maybe ? Should we care anedi whole different question aa chal ke tujhe main leke chalu ik aise gagan ke tale jahan gam bhi na ho, aansoo bhi na ho,bas pyaar hi pyaar pale |

Jkm:pillalu aadukune vayassulo ivanni avasaramandi ?
LOL - teenage start avutundi - vere aatalu aadukune badulu ivvi better emo Just kidding... He is reading fountainhead by Ayn Rand - and that is an excellent trigger for these discussions Nisarga, His question was if you are the only person in the world there would be no right or wrong -or you have to judge an action based on what is the impact on someone else...its outside of you.. so you cannot identify your own mistakes - someone else has to tell you.. So I kind of explained to him how values(still given to you externally) are the frame of reference for your actions and how you can turn that decision and distinction inward by thinking how that action would impact you if you were at the receiving end - removing the second person out of the picture...making your evaluation of self Went from there to what is selfishness/selflessness - he asked is helping another your need, ego or selflessness - I remembered the same discussion we had in IBDB I probably corrupted his thinking by telling him it is your self-esteem need based on your values ...not selflessness - surprisingly to me he seemed to comprehend it much better than a lot of adults do - probably because he has had less indoctrination on how to think Pretty long, meandering discussion - I just touched some of the points here aa chal ke tujhe main leke chalu ik aise gagan ke tale jahan gam bhi na ho, aansoo bhi na ho,bas pyaar hi pyaar pale |

time: what is time ! when the space is constant/same, 2 or more events occur at different points in time when the time is constant, 2 or more events occur at different points in space time prevents all the events to occur at once. time is self referential and it is hard to understand without the notion of itself. 1) chronological sequencing of events 2) rate of change of an event 2nd is the basis for 1st. second: the duration of 9 192 631 770 periods of the radiation corresponding to the transition between the two hyperfine levels of the ground state of the caesium 133 atom -- wikipedia so we generally measure time(duration/period) in terms of seconds. underlying assumption is that second is constant. the timers are calibrated so as to run with this rate. what if the rate of radiation in caesium 133 atom changes !! if the rate becomes high i.e if it radiates more frequnetly and hence there are more periods in the same ammount of time ( again we have to assume time here ) if the rate becomes low i.e if it radiates less frequnetly and hence there are less periods in the same ammount of time ( again we have to assume time here ) so we end up meauring the time with the notion of itself. the neccesary condition to measure time is existence of constant rate of an event against which all the other events are measured!! to understand the notion of time we somehow end up assuming itself. there is nothing like flow of time. time travel makes no sense and not possible. |

Anand_n:Interesting - do you have any references/links for this qualia and brain connection -would like to read ...
what I mean is there are changes in some parts of brain which correspond to the experiences in human consciousness. I have read about this research in some articles which i dont remember readily. would give you links if i find them. i have read recently that in Japan, some researchers could capture(as pictures) the immediate experience of the pictures/object that they showed to the subjects. they could process/analyze the changes in electrical activity in brain and plotted it as pic. I read this in eenadu.net only. not sure if it is reliable news, but seems quite plausible. And what i can assume(harp on rather ) is there exists nothing outside material world that is completely responsible or corresponds to consciousness/experience/qualia. the thing that is responsible for consciousness/experience/qualia must be integral part of the material world, the material world is inclusive of it. even if such a thing as spirit or whatever is assumed, the fact that it operates, manifests on/in matter; the existence of mechanism, structure for any idea to operate invalidates the independent existence of it. |

good post nisarga. I think Religion is just one way of life. only hinduism believes in many different ways of life and different ways to acheive moksha. thats why we don't call hiduism as a religion. |

My ramblings -- tried to capture popular views and views in populace. my understanding and views interspersed . not written in descriptive manner just listed the ideas/views/observations. Spirituality: Gives a perspective to life. gives wisdom. An inquiry into the reality and the prevailing. To reconcile with the prevailing circumstances. Helps come to terms with the unpalatability/adversity. To dilute or even out the gravity of adversity. Higher level and simplistic explanation of reality and the gaps in scientific understanding. Little or nothing to do with the notion of spirit (that of dualism). Includes or overlaps with some aspects of religion. Religion: Way of life. Set of practices, rituals, and customs which help deal with unpalatability, adversity, and the consequent negative emotions evoked. Entertainment. Very higher level, simplistic and trivial explanation of reality and the gaps in the scientific understanding. Holds onto a belief (usually irrational, not necessarily God). Gives sense of belongingness. In-group/out-group biases. God: Common people views: Creator, Overseer of diurnal proceedings.Omniscient, Omnipresent and Omnipotent. Runs and controls the universe/life. Punishes the sinners and rewards the good and devotees. Pardons sinners paying their prayers. Views of Agnostics: The processes, power responsible for the inconsistencies, and inexplicabilities in empirical observations of reality. Unknown or unaccountable aspects of reality. Science: Attempt to understand reality objectively. A methodology based on simplest possible premises consistent with empirical observations. predicts things based on controlled experiments and/or a consistent theory. Open to corrections and amendments. No absolute truths. If you try to come up with any other alternative methodology to explain reality objectively and consistently, you end up coming up with Science only. Consciousness: Hard to understand. Vague and Loosely used. Used interchangeably with the notions of self/I, awareness, thought etc. Can it be without self/I/thought !? To be conscious is to be conscious of something --Jean Paul Sartre -- what is it that is conscious(of something)? without the coordinator, interpreter what do physical sensations mean to a life!!?? Is consciousness there in other animals? Is it there in primitive life? Devoid of self what does it mean or how does it feel? Are qulia there in all the other animals? In animals it might be just sensual. No self might be involved or no self in them. It seems possible to be conscious without memory/language involved. For knowledge, wisdom self/thought is necessary. Meaning is with respect to self/I/thought only. Self might be a higher level of consciousness. Is consciousness there in inanimate. The processes in life systems or any other systems run just because of the sophisticated structure/mechanism or due to the consciousness of its cells/organs/parts !!?? Consciousness in primitive life might be of mechanical and there is no/little free will. Consciousness/self/qualia have physical basis in our brains. I think I could not put my ideas properly or moot a point here. I think I got confused midway. |
