The biggest difference I notice is, there is no time lag between the moment you release the shutter and the moment camera take the picture. In the point-and-shoot cameras there is big delay and it is difficult to captures images of moving objects or children. Further, you can apply various filters to soften the faces while taking people's pictures. | ||

Nee dhaggara film SLR unte, you can just buy the body (from same make) and reuse all the lenses and accessories. That is what I did, sticking with Nikon family. | ||

Ee modes anni predefined for some situations (for amateurs) . nenu only manual mode lo theesthaanu. Things I control/change are: Focus, Exposure and shutter speed. If you can command these controls, you are good for every situation. Optionally I use the flash (speed light) indoors if light is low. | ||

Many people buy DSLRs with a assumption that they can get good pictures by simply buying DSLRs. This is NOT true. There will be number of cases where point & shoot will give better pictures than DSLRs. One surverey said 20% of the people who bought DSLRs didn't know that they have to shoot pictures in old way i.e by looking into view finder rathar than LCD screen (like point and shoot models). So you really need to ask yourself.... Do i need a DSLR? If yes, why do you need it? Are you willing to invest huge amounts on lenses, filters, accessories like flashes, soft lights etc? Do you have patience to take time to COMPOSE the shots? I am going to Vote for Chiru... | ||

Yes, that's the thumb rule. My Nikon D70 (DSLR) is only 6.3MP but takes beautiful pictures. I suggest to spend more money on the lenses that on camera. | ||

Unless you are planning to develop pictures to huge blow up sizes (bigger than news paper) ... you don't really need more than 6-8 MP. I have developed quite a few portraits to 10 * 13 size with 5 MP camera. More pixels (MP) does NOT mean more quality. I am going to Vote for Chiru... | ||
