his contribution is unmatchable. He is an unsung hero. But I am sure history will judge him as the first modern architect of India.

I find it interesting that people are so willing to make excuses for PVN while everyone was ready to lynch Shivraj Patil for his inaction...iddaru home ministers e kada >>>>
2 things.
1. PVN thingy happened just a week then calm down. Where as patil thing was a monthly business.
2. Indira Gandhi own security guards ni chumpinandhuku, people were upset and Rajiv also kind of gave a supporting statement like tree, roots etc etc. PV was in defensive and anyone in his powers will be like that.
Ikkada patil gaaru, regular failure. Law and order maintain sarigaa chesthey, sonia ki/manmohan ki, kopam emi raadhu. PV case lo, rajiv ..... |

Mumbai incident was not the first for Shivraj Patil's inaction--and hence the reaction..
1984 ..i think is probably the first major failure for PVN as a Home Minister...but guess what..his opinion/authority was either sidelined or over written by his own party men...who had the muscle power in that situation..
also why do you think a PM not existing is a positive situation and would give free hand..to the Home Minister...I think given our bureaucratic structure..it would just be the opposite.. |

PVN did a lot of good things but the handling of the 1984 carnage was not one of them.It proved him to be what EK said- a worker of the Gandhi family...and then as PM since he was part of the guilty he stalled the inquiry...
Patel was a man of steel -whatever else people say of him he was nobody's worker...
