why we have monument for Jallianwala Bagh massacre ???? because It reminds us the need for unity. But there were 4100 terror attacks in the past 20 yrs and so many people died. i dont understand why we dont have any monument that reminds us the terror and calls need for unity??? | ||

This is BS. We commenting politicians not because they failed in controlling these attacks. We comment them for their lethargic response. Their learning curve is lower than a kinder garden kid. As NRI, After these attacks happened i met fellow indians working in several floors of this bulding, they were from different parts of india, they speak different languages, we all sat for a while talked few encouraging words, light few candles and discussed how GOVT can control these attacks. As indian living abroad atleast now we are confident that these people who were there are ready to help and offer support when we are in need. ( We went back to work and life goes on). Bottom line is "we felt that support and encouragement" Thats all indians are asking NOW. We slam politicians because they miserably failed in making people believe them, indians dont feel safe now and they dont believe that any leader will stand for them. Best example in what happened yesterday in AP assembly.. okka roju , Naa kodukul thittukokunda undalera??? 200 mandi sachaaru.. atleast to honor them okka roju "ACT" as if you are united to fight for indians. I agree with Redneck's observations regarding Manmohan singh..... but that doesn't mean that, once you become an expat, you loose the right to respond on your loved country...... also, it does not mean...who didnt leave India but ruining it daily, are Proud sons of India...... PS: These thread is for the NRIs who commenting on people/politics in india. Dear friends, The Mumbai attacks has angered us all and in our upset mood we have been blaming a set of public servants for their mishandling of their responsibilities and at times their criminal\Corrupt behavior. While i myself shared the feelings but it occured to me "Do i being an NRI have any moral authority to blame anyone for negligence or irresponsible act". I personally feel "NO" I am not absolving any of the authorities, but i am forced to think what have I done to deserve any moral autority to question anyone in India. Is my authority simply a derivative of the fact that i was born there and I grew up there for 20 odd years or because my family is there? We all came to US to look for a better life, career, money etc which obviously means India wasn't good enough for us. We do not contribute either by paying any tax or man\Brain power. Few of us do some charity constituting to less than 1% of our salaries. Many don't even do that. India may be a IT hub not becos of the 10K indians in MS but because of the talented indeginious companies and their native Indian employees like Wipro, Infy, TCS etc. Same is true for other developing fields. We say with the amount of money these politicians make the Mumbai Police could have been far better equipped. On the hand, we guys grew up there and have benifitted from the education system (we paid yess, but its higly subsidized!!) and the country as a whole. We left as soon as the time of return came. I am sure we owe a lot in terms of Money too. Compare the money needed in US to go to a private school, college and get a degree. We guys have had it for free when comapred to US and given we have landed up in these high paying jobs, we have had a free ride!! We so easily blamed some decent politicians like Dr. Manmohan Singh. He had same oppurtunities to be an NRI as we have had. Instead he is serving the nation with his briliiance in econmics. he may be a weak PM in some aspects, but by any measures he has contributed more to the country than the NRI's. Dr. Singh may be an exception in the political clan, but I am not sure how much moral authority we have to blame others. How many of us even pay the customs duty for the gifts we carry home every year. We have done so well for ourselves in terms of money and career, but we still steal money from our Motherland. Not to offend anyone. If we really have a lot of love and affection for our Motherland, let us find means of contributing directly towards it's development. If u are angry at politicans go back and join a political party (Like lok paritran), If u hate poverty help out the charities from here like CRY, Asha, Unitus etc. If u hate the lack of education in India, start by telling ur parents to help out the servants and other people around ur home... if u hate corruption start by paying appropriate customs duty when u take gifts... Whatever u feel is lacking in our country, do "whatever u can" to fix it before going into a spree of blaming people who are in India. Trust me for those who live in India, we having any opinions, blaming and talking about fix-this, fix-that etc, is simply funny. I hope i havnt offended anyone, my point is not that we shud pack our bags and home, but to do whatever we can to help. |
