}} India team aney Badhulu Brahmin team antey better yemo http://www.merinews .com/catFull. jsp?title= An%20unattended% 20questionnaire% 20on%20caste% 20in%20cricket&articleID=238 Read all these questions, especially these Question 3: All selectors in Tamil Nadu Cricket Board are Brahmins, and the most recent player to emerge from the state is Murli Karthik, who is also a Brahmin. Does it reflect a caste bias in cricket? Question 4: Is it a mere coincidence that Sunil Gavaskar, Dravid, Sourav Ganguly, Kumble, Tendulkar, Laxman and many other stalwarts of the Indian cricket are Brahmins? Question 5: Everytime there is a small town guy displacing a big-city Brahmin from a position of prominence, the Brahmin lobby in cricket gets furious. Sunil Gavaskar could not digest the success of Kapil Dev. Tendulakar had problems with Sehwag taking his opener’s slot. The initial success of Harbhajan Singh displaced Kumble from the team in situations where only one spinner is required, and it created some murmers of discontent in the Karnataka cricketing lobby. |

Yes, we were in the middle of a good ODI series, wrt India, when Mumbai attacks happened. The ODI series got stopped, but then ... We seemd to be hell bent on going ahead with test series .. whether players like flitoff, pietersen come or dont come .. we are not even worried, whether eng sends a second, third or nth string players to play these tests .. we are just going ahead and selecting venues far away from mumbai ... kolkata, chennai, bangalore, calicut ... we are brainstorming what will be more attractive for eng players to compel them to come ... who actually are shaken for their life and a lifetime ... ECB needs a few rounds of black cat commondo rings around these players at venues, hotels, facilities ... I guess we did not have that many commondo rings or commondos to fight during mumbai attacks ... I dont understand, why should we play cricket now ... The nation is mourning, people are voluntarily mourning this time ... Cricket is a sport, and we need a sporting atmosphere, a competent atmosphere, which is clearly lacking ... If we dont play, cricketers are not going to lose their jobs, they are not hand to mouth kind of employees ... To loose the money by not playing, BCCI is not a government body ... It is a private organization, money does not go in any way to govertment, except in the form of some service taxes ... why should govt. now should provide black cat commondos and other security measures for a private organized event?? What msg it gives to the outside world .. that we are a retarded lot that we can play and enjoy cricket even while we are grieving for ourselves .... why should we talk about WC 2011 going away from india ... NOW!!! What if we say we dont play, ... let the IPL be stopped, let the champions league be scrapped .. let the WC go to australia ... what will happen at the most?? Wont the people abroad be thinking that Indians have put their best foot forward looking to get their house right? That they are not compelling foreigners to come and play for riches?? That more than cricket, the nation is what they are emotional about ... when the cheer for their team, it is the nation that is binding them all ... Who are these Ratnakar shetti's, Sharad pawar's, and all ... What kind of national lose that they are looking at, when they say ... Crikcet must go on ... http://www.rediff.com/getahead/mumterror08commtry.html |
