PRP RISING SUN VELUGU THATUKOLEKA YSR PARISTHITHI:
YSR’s eye problem refuses to go away

Hyderabad, Nov. 1: The Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, is still facing "eye trouble" despite undergoing four cataract-related surgeries in the last one year. At present, his left eye, which was operated upon recently, looks bigger when compared to his right eye. Also, much to the discomfort of the Chief Minister, the right eye has started drooping. This is especially evident when Dr Reddy faces the TV cameras and when he goes out to the sun.

However, Dr Kasu Prasada Reddy, who performed the surgeries on the Chief Minister’s eyes, said there was nothing to panic. "We have to perform another surgery on his right eye to correct the drooping problem and then both his sight and his appearance will be normal," he said. "We are hoping to do it in December." The Chief Minister, who is almost 60, had developed eye troubles after his 1,600-km padayatra in 2003 when he really faced the wrath of the sun.

"I removed his cataract using ultrasound device," said Dr Prasada Reddy. "The Chief Minister does not want to use glasses, and so I had to perform multi focal IOL." Later, the Chief Minister developed ptosis (drooping eyelids) for which another surgery was conducted on his left eye. "I do have a problem in the right eye. I’ll undergo a surgery in December as I am busy this month," Dr Rajasekhar Reddy said.
