then.. same business day money is deposited into your India SBI account.

except a catch. Domestic Wire Transfer ki 10 dollars to 25 daaka karchu avutundi.

so idi ela work aututundi..
- first register at www.onlinesbi.com/rr
-> Initiate a fund transfer in SBI online for x dollars and it gives a ref no for that transfer.

- then transfer X amount to SBI BOFA account from ur local bank with that reference number as key.
- SBI verifies the funds and then end of business day in US they initiate a transfer request to Indian bank.
-> Within the same day noon or beyond you can access your money in SBI.

Thanks for clarifying mama. I ended up in the same conversation. I showed the fine print to just deposit money into a Bank of America account as a normal account. First she tried to help me out and later she said she can not do it. Even Manager lady said it needs to be International Wire ... it looked very dumb as she was aruging on that point when money is not even leaving the Bank of America system.

I sent an email SBI RR two days ago the same day I had this issue. Still waiting for response.

Hi maama,

I use this regulary. Nenu general ga chase nunchi wire transfer chestha. Online wire transfer!!

So I wire from Chase to SBI Bofa account. Like if I do it this time today, by our midnight money will be deposited in India.

Kaani once I went to BOFA branch to do a wire transfer to SBI's BOFA account. vaadu cheyyalem annadu.

Basic ga they don't understand the process. They see the name of account as "state bank of india" and they think how can you do a domestic wire to Indian account.

Two days back nee kosam oka thread vesanu.. adi archives madyaloki poindi. Could you please clarify my doubt on a successful remittance using SBI Rapid Remittance.

My initial post

Hi Fidelity or others who used SBI RR option.

I tried to remit money using SBI RR option and not able to deposit funds in to the Bank Branch in NY.

http://www.chalanachithram.com/discus/messages/125/22475.htm l

I read your posts in the above thread on use of Rapid Remittance option. Based on your experience posts, I registered a new user ID (Express Remit ID did not work, checked with Customer Service and they suggested to create a new ID for RR) and tried a test transfer for 2001 USD yesterday.

Here is what I have done:

1. Logged on to www.onlinesbi.com/rr and submitted a fund transfer request.
2. Up on submission it gave me details of the Remittance Bank of SBI GLS in USA which is Bank of America, New York.
3. I went to local (NC) Bank of America branch with Transaction Ref number to do a teller transfer to the SBI's Bank of America account.
4. The bank offier denied to put Transaction reference number using Teller transfer. She suggested, she can do only Domestic Wire Transfer (25USD fee) to have any additional information in the transaction.
5. Since it is urgent, I agreed for Domestic wire and filled up all details. When she was processing it on the computer, the bank system is not able to look up the account number given by SBI in the Bank of America system. They tried multiple methods to pull information. Even though they found an account on SBI 460 Park Avenue, she said it is not accepting the account number during ABA Routing transfer option (Domestic Wire).
6. Manager got involved and she also tried something. Finally she called Wire Room of Bank of america to handle this issue. It took 30mins to figure out what is happening with it.
7. Finally after discussing with them she told that this account number is not visible to us, you need to do international wire using SWIFT (45USD) to put funds in Bank of America account you provided. I was confused and asked even though it is ur Bank account why should I have to use SWIFT option and she said thats how it works.

I asked them not to initiate SWIFT transfer and told I will get back to them after talking to SBI. SBI gave India contact information for RR. Dont know whether they can help much on this issue.

Can you please tell me in which Bank and location you have used transferred funds and your experience with the whole process.

I also tried using Online Banking (Personal Checking) to add this account to see if I can locate it by myself. It errored out.

Thanks in advance.
