YSR launches 104 mobile health service for poor

PULIVENDULA: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy on Saturday launched Health Management Research Institute’s (HMRI) 104 mobile health service to cater to the rural poor in villages beyond 3-km. from a primary health centre (PHC), in Kadapa district.

The 104 mobile vehicle would visit villages on stipulated days every month and para-medical staff would examine patients, conduct tests and give medicines required for a month to patients, Dr. Reddy said at a meeting after flagging off a contingent of 22 vehicles at the TTD Kalyana Mandapam at Pulivendula.

Urban people would undergo periodical health check-ups but the rural people do not know if they have blood pressure or diabetes until hospitalisation, the Chief Minister remarked. Government servants and Rajiv Arogyasri staff would serve the medical needs of pregnant women, children and people, he said.

The Government was spending hundreds of crores on providing healthcare to poor in corporate hospitals and EMRI 108 emergency service was allotted Rs. 300 crore.

He advised the staff to strive to earn good name on par with 108 service.

CEO of HMRI Balaji Utla said the 104 service was launched in Mahabubnagar, Adilabad and Kadapa and would be launched in Srikakulam soon.

The service would extend telemedicine technology in the inaccessible areas.

Kadapa Member of Parliament Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy, MLC Shaik Hussain, MLAs G. Mohan Reddy, N. Varadarajulu Reddy and K. Prabhavathamma, Collector M.T. Krishna Babu and DMHO T. Venkataramana Reddy participated.

Earlier, Dr. Reddy laid foundation stone for Samyu Glass Industries, a Rs. 100-crore unit coming up on 300 acres of land and NSL Spinning Mills, a Rs. 100-crore unit for which 75 acres was allotted.

He also laid foundation stone for Biological E Limited, a Rs. 40-crore unit being set up on 35 acres.

The three industries coming up in Pulivendula, which remained backward for decades, would generate employment for local people, the Chief Minister said.

The glass industry would employ 100 persons, spinning mills would provide work to 250 men and 350 women and Biological E would employ 200 persons, he said.
Drip irrigation

Meanwhile, Dr. Reddy on Saturday assured irrigation of two lakh acres in Pulivendula Assembly constituency through drip irrigation by December 2009.

Briefing newsmen after a review meeting at the R&B Guest House in Pulivendula, he said drip irrigation would be extended to 15,000 acres by February next.

Dr. Reddy expressed satisfaction at the progress of works on Gandikota reservoir, Chitravathi and Pydipalem lift-irrigation schemes, modernisation of Pulivendula Branch Canal and Lingala Canal.
Housing scheme

Dr. Reddy said that 3.10 lakh houses were being constructed in Kadapa district, including 1.96 lakh sanctioned in Indiramma first and second phases.

In all, 97,000 houses were completed in two phases. In Pulivendula, 29,000 houses were completed so far and 36,000 houses would be built in Indiramma third phase covering all homeless families. The Chief Minister also reviewed roads, underground drainage and drinking water supply works in Pulivendula.
