Oscar is no measuring stick for non hollywood movies, and the songs in swathimathyam are in a class by themselves.
CNare is really a great poet. he visited our school, and said these lines
tholakari jallu chinna dhaina chaalu, bhoomi loni ukka nantha pogottataniki,
manchi maata okkataina chaalu, manasuloni baadha ni thagginchataniki.
wordings might not be exact as it has been more than 15 yrs.
and he is a good speaker too. true gem from telangana, one more reason why i hate to see a seperate telangana.

characterization prakaram ayithe forrest gump, and swathi muthyam are on the same page and the characters did pretty good too. but the script of forrest gump is a bit more complex as it is a pretty clever weaving of realistc situations of the era, and the character that is a fake, and the interpreation of this unusual character in a uncomplex(but not so simple at times) way. credit has to be given to both the scripts. I like swathi muthyam, and is a great movie indeed.

Naaku telisi Forrest Gump is nothing before swathi mutyam in terms of the originality and the fact that it came way before forrest gump. If forest gump deserves an oscar, swathi mutyam deserves a two. As usual as per our servile modern indian attitude, we are forced to say that the west is more refined. |
