I prefer Obama not for he is going to do some magic, but atleast he sticks to democractic party's ideology. Macain continues with Bush's failed policies in the next 4 years which is disastrous for the country and globally. Remember one thing, historically Republicans or Dems stick to their ideologies. i understand the sentiment part but govt was very fast in coming up with a number and getting it passed.... simple, if you start giving a unruly kid a chocolate , he gets more unruly and wants more chocolates... they should have let it go as it was free market, i am not against a bailout but once the dust gets settled out..if they let it go, banks would have opt for bidding smaller ones, credit would have been tighter but "banks" would have taken the hit too but now buying total debt is totally wrong. no sensible would do that. its none of govt's business to shoreup sentiment, they did good in bailing out few they could have done it on case by case. bailout plan was for short term to pump in money and get the credit people want to get the numbers to wallstreet salespeople gonna sell cars, houses for non creditworthy people, coz even with dollars flowing if they dont sell, market sentiment goes down.. | ||

KKD Bail out is bascially to buy debts of banks. So it replenishes banks with money. So now they can do their business, instead of closing them. However it takes time for Banks to get profits. Take a simple example. Bank AAA borrowed funds uptp $50 millions from Freddie Mae at 2%. Bank AAA lent this money to home buyers at 6% for 5-30 yrs. 90% of these buyers have foreclosed and are not in a position to pay the bank AAA. Now Bank AAA is in crisis because AAA is not in a position to pay its loan to Freddie Mae. Now Freddie is also in peril because all its banks failed to pay its money bank. Govt's bail out is to help some of these banks by buying those bad debts. So AAA bank gets some $10 mil from govt, which it needs to lend to new customers. So Bail out is only helps sentiment instantaneously but not totally. For bail out to work, t might take 2-5 yrs . That is the story. Stcok markets are not doing well because investors are thinking that Bail Out is still not enough to east the financial crisis. | ||

KKD Reasons a comination of factors are responsible for this state of economy backed by inept Bush economic policy. 1. Iraq war - Bush policy - lot of spending - contributed to uneasyness in middle east and oil pirces hike. 2. Globalization - Outsourcing - impacted manufacturing and service industry 3. Financial institutions broken - Due to various factors (sub-prime) and Govt did not act in time to arrest the failure. 4. Terrorism - 9/11 5. Oil prices - Iraq war, increase in usage (India, China etc) - no development of alternative sources. 6. Lack of fiscal discipline Solutions 1. Bail out is basically govt buys the debt (bad and doubtful debts) from Financial insts. It takes years for Banks to get benefited. But Bail out will atleast keep them going. Bail out replenishes the left side of their Balance Sheets. So no body knows how long it takes but there is some thing to lift the sentiments of investors. 2. Lack of Fiscal Discipline - Govts in US are wasting lots and lots of money for useless reasons. They need to stop this. 3. Iraq War - It is not prgamatic now to withdraw. So they should start getting money from IRAQ's oil revenues. 4. Provide some tax sops to manufacturing industry specifically. 5. More specific steps towards alternative sources of energy. 6. Housing market. - This is very key for the recovery of housing market. Hopefully with the bail out and govt's intervention in Freddie mae/F will ease the credit freeze and atleast help the prospective buyers. | ||
