A documentary with the Bill Maher directed by the one who gave us the outrageous Borat.This documentary is just a carry forward of some issues what we see in Bill Mahers shows.His perspective on Religion and his satires on the lame practices and faiths. The documentary works mainly because of Bill Mahers Wit.He was spontaneous many a times when he interviews religious leaders.He royally screwed Christians ,Jews and Muslims.Thankfully skipped Hindus. Its very heartening to see one Priest in the Vatican City confessing most of the matter pumped by the church is Junk.Also the perspectives of the official Astrologer of vatican city r interesting too. The concept of Virgin Mary is ridiculed the most. The documentary was shot very cleverly.The awkward pauses and the expressions on the guests when Bill Maher puts them in a compromising position are priceless. Also the placing of clips from old christian movie,hip hop songs enhanced the narration. But it tends to get too repetitive as U tend to know most of the stuff before going to the movie.I mean how many times one will not think why GOD has so much EGO???Why he declares u have to believe in him or else u will be burned in fire.... Coming to Islam ...he tried to focus on the violent preachings of islam and he also addresses the issue of how even liberal muslims wont agree to what exactly was preached int their religion and live in denial dat Islam is a Peace loving cult.No one wants to let an outsider know that there is something wrong with their religion.Good point. Most of the guests you see in this movie are Idiots.So it was easy for bill maher to roast them.On the flip side all these Idiots occupy some of the prominent positions in society.And they have 100s of thousands of followers.So it does raise an issue of what sort of gurus the people are embracing.How the insecurity of the people...their unanswered questions of life after death and Moksha and all dat crap is being used to victimize them and sending them back to stone age and making them belive in flying horses and virgin maries. One of those leader who was in the movie is a Senator...and when Bill Maher Questions him "Iam feeling uncomfortable to know we are being ruled by people like you who still believe in superstitious lame theories" The senator replies...."You dont have to pass an IQ test to become a senator..." welll...... Dats Scaryy..... |
