Mega:Rocky mama It is already well established kada..what has it got to do with Chiru?
It does not have to be a blame game. This village has been developed over a period of time. The lesson that we need to learn is how we can emulate this success else where. 1. What made this village to acheive the success? 2. Wha are the problems this village faces/experienced? 3. Why caanot we do this in other villages? A person like Chiru visiting this place grabs the attention of people and educates people. |

I really appreciate Chiru for this initiative. Leaders like Chiru have to highlight these kinds of successes and be positive. This instils confidence in people that we can collectively help our villages. This is very simple and we don't need complicated economics or sophisticated technologies. All basic things. Take this village and try to emulate it in other villages. |

WARANGAL: Remote and thinly populated, Gangadevipalli village in Geesukonda mandal has always been in the news and drawn the attention of administrators in the country and even abroad. It is in the news once again with Praja Rajyam party chief and megastar of the tinsel world, Chiranjeevi, choosing to visit the village of 1,270 people on Thursday. The village, which had no proper road connectivity and transportation facilities a few years ago, now boasts of all the basic amenities and has achieved an economic progress that is simply astounding thanks to people’s zeal and efforts. Teams from Bangladesh Government, UNESCO, Rural Development Foundation and other organisations have toured the village to see the transformation in local administration, women’s empowerment and other things personally. Even the trainee civil servants visited the village to study the methods adopted for better governance. Gangadevipalli was adjudged the best panchayat in the country in 2007. Earlier, it had won accolades several times at the district level. Village sarpanch K Rajamouli received the award at a function held in Tirupati in August. The village boasts of a good drainage system, proper sanitation in every household and welllaid cement roads. In case villagers urinate or defecate on the road, they will have to pay fine. The panchayat has set up a drinking water plant to combat the flouride problem. Every household is supplied safe drinking water free of cost. The village panchayat has also taken up the responsibility of informing, educating and entertaining the villagers through visual medium and set up a dish TV antenna. The villagers are charged a nominal fee for the cable connection. To top them all is the prohibition of liquor which has been implemented voluntarily for the past 12 years. A mahila committee has been formed to enforce the ban. And, the village has always reached the targets in tax collection every year. The thrift groups in the village too have achieved success. There are committees on economics, sanitation, streetlighting, drinking water supply and others to supervise related works in the villa. |
