 Vijayawada: Most of the rumors originate from the Secretariat where media persons, politicians and bureaucrats chit chat frequently. Later, from the Secretariat, they spread to the rest of the State. The latest such rumor is that Telugu Desam supreme, N Chandrababu Naidu, who is bent on coming back to power in the 2009 elections had paid Rs 25 crore to CPM's B V Raghavulu to disassociate from the Congress and make things hard for the party to have alliance. This is the reason why Raghavulu has been talking against the Congress and had given enough indications that the party would not align with the Congress in the next round of elections. But, the CPI is different and its secretary, Dr K Narayana, has been talking against Naidu too. He is talking against the Congress and the Telugu Desam too, leaving less scope for the TD-Left alliance. Narayana's criticism of TD is also causing inconvenience to the CPM, which can not think of going away from the Left Front. The Secretariat had spread a rumor stating that Naidu, who had paid Rs 25 crore to Raghavulu, had offered only Rs 5 crore to the CPI's Narayana. "We are no way inferior to the CPM and you have to pay us the same price," is what Narayana had conveyed to Babu. However, Naidu did not like this and raised the payment to Rs 15 crore for the time being. Irked at the offers, Narayana had threatened to see TD out of the Left circle in the elections. "Why is he bargaining like this with the CPI, when he did not do so with the CPM," is what Narayana asks the TD power brokers. This is the reason why Narayana is now playing active role in building a Greater Alliance (Maha Kutami), excluding the Telugu Desam. The Alliance will have TRS of Chandrasekhar Rao, Nava Telangana of Devender Gowd, Praja Rajyam of Chiranjeevi to fight against both the Congress and the TD. |
