But definitely about the heads of state of independent India I think it is important for children to be able to take pride in their country and leaders...If they believe that the country has only been led by self-serving, spineless politicians what will they look up or aspire to? Why would they want to do anything for the nation when it is going to the dogs anyway ?We will kill all idealism and raise cynics from the cradle. This has come to disgusting proportion in India...pseudo intellects....ppl who believe that using lang as a medium is a barometer of refinedness... I know a girl who told me once that she studied french for 6 yrs in school and college....she is a telugu girl raised in N.India..and later moved to HYD...I asked her " what prompted u to take french...." I wud have been happy if she learnt it coz she is interested in new langs...etc.....which was not the case...pat came the reply..." by 7 th hindi became 2 much for me...I wanted something cool...and took french".....I said then what about your mother tounge..and commented that it has become something of a fad today to pursue french etc...and she told me that "every language has its own sweetness".....I was bewildered by the answer...coz some one who doesnt know his own tounge properly is seeking the sweetness in other langs...... some time later in Grad School.....I introduced her to my french friends and told them that she known frnech wel...They started speaking in french INSTANTLY...I looked wryly at her...coz a few moments earlier....She started the talk with a long english content...... I plain told her....u will even be startled to the point of being ashamed how germans, the poles are so protective abt their lang....A german guy never tries to converse with a fellow german in ENglish or french to pass of as knowledgeable.. | ||
