Agree very much andi.. For example..knowing the way TTD is run..I am thinking twice on donating money .. Shankar Netralaya..always sends the name of the people who got helped by your funds..not that I went and double checked if it was true.. Akshaya Patra..again I have never verified if it really reached a particular person..but I am hoping that my money is being used for the right cause.. If you know of any such organizations where you know for a fact that the money does reach the needy..please do let me know.. Uncle Sam has enough of free money coming from Oil buyers/sellers who are trading in US dollars..he does not need our Tax money  | ||

Rajusk, US nunchi help/contribute Chesevallu chala mande unnaru ...IBDB lo Cheyootha form chesi chala efforts chesaru medical camps / books distribution etc...similar group of NRI youngsters Spandana works to same purpose ..the problem is keeping the momentum... start chesinappudu enthu longterm sustain avvadu - and consistent donations undavu for the group to plan activities...and requires a lot of onground effort and book-keeping efforts if you take it large scale... So sporadic contributors ki it is better to go with an existing NGO depending on the cause close to your hearts.I like to contribute to the smaller ones simply because it encourages them and keeps them working for the cause ... bedar...the economics inovled and the rapid change in the infrastrucure dats reqd is huge...nothing wrong with the contributions by individuals..... But seriously.....if leaders can spend 5mins on this and if they take proper decisions...its nothing.....trust me....dats where famous personalities help....bono with all his rockstar attitude used bible and jesus to influence leaders...... we need genuine people whom leaders can listen to | ||

famous personalities do most of the activities to become even more famous( don't read between the lines..I am not referring to anyone here..it is a generic statement). So it is the common people who should get involved and take it up as a cause..when I say common people..people who can afford $100/200 per year or more on charitable activities..the more you have..the better off these organizations are.. | ||

I think TTD also has lots of such initiatives .. I believe TTD is well-organised and has a far-reach when compared to these small NGOs. I dont deny everybody is doing their bit, but then I am just trying to list all the ones I know. On the health front, I saw lots of activity from 'Narayana Hrudayala' when I was in India. Also I know of 'Sankara Trust' run by Kanchi peetam. List every NGO that does better, probably we can help those who want to donate/serve but dont have a clue where to start! | ||

That is a good organization .. Also I know of an NGO called "Naandi" funded by Satyam group, Nagarjuna group and some other big organizations in the state. I think they provide mid-day meals to students in govt. schools. This organization was very good like 3-4 years back .. I will have to follow it up! On one hand we have lots of food wastages in the rich and affluent homes and on the other hand, we have 2 million children dying of malnutrition and poverty! what an irony ! | ||

In India, one out of every three women is underweight putting them at risk of having low birth weight babies and these babies are 20 times more likely to die in infancy than healthy babies. You can attack this probably..because if people are even a little bit educated they would take somewhat wise decision..like marrying at a later age ..etc.. For this you need to encourage poor kids to go to school..the only organization that I know of who is doing this is Akshayapatra.. if there are any..let us donate to them and encourage them to send more kids to school..so that our nation prospers | ||

OMG staggering numbers .. if official counts are 21 lakh .. I believe they can easily be upto 50 lakhs in reality. SC is correct, even God will not be able to save this country ! Over two million children in India die every year due to malnutrition, pneumonia and diarrhoea, a UNICEF report released on Tuesday said. Around 2.1 million children died in India in 2006 while the number was 4,15,000 in China. In 2004 and 2005, nearly four million children had died in India where the Infant Mortality Rate is 57 per 1,000 births, the State of the Asia Pacific's Children Report 2008 said. Health care fails to reach poorest sections of people in India, it said, adding the country needs to improve in many areas including nutrition, water and sanitation, education, gender equality and child protection. Unless India takes steps to address them, efforts to attain the Millennium Development Goals, that aims to achieve education and health care for all by 2015, will fail, the report said.
