This is one of the best movies i have seen  Odd thing about this movie is many of my friends who have never seen/ or no favorites of B&W movies are so entranced by this movie and now hardcore fans of it. Donno what allures them - but i just luv this movie for so many reasons. 1..Govindarajula Subbarao - One of the finest of first gen Tel.movie actors. Donned the role of Lubdhavadhani and he literally means it. His diction is peculiar in this movie - Typical Vijayanagaram Brahmin twang , as it did justice to the novel of Veeresalingam . Many characters in the movie end with " Sha " in place of " Ta " - Entata antaniki Entasha' antaru LOL 2..CSR - Chilakalapudi seetaramanjaneyulu from Narasaraopet Ramappanthulu role - chinchi chata chesadu . He was also famous for his unique diction where in his stress and breakage of Telugu syllables id unique to him. 3...Savitri - Mahanati. We Telugus are lucky to have somebody like her. Vesya role lo kooda chala graceful ga chesaru and a rare full length comedy role to her. 4...NTR - A revelation in this movie . As the saying goes " Its one thing u do a role among mediocre actors and its another thing to hold ur ground among stalwarts " CSR, Savitri, Govindarajula lanti vallatho chesthoo kooda he has his own niche& brings recognition to his character. Comedy timing kaani, Dialogues kani, Body langauge kaani - The Legend His histrionics in " Chitaru kommana mithayi potlam" song is a feast. And each and every character is etched very well in this movie - Shavukaru janaki as a naive widow, The kid, Chayadevi ( Pootakulla munda ) as NTR calls her - LOL, and all the others. One of a gem to watch for its comedy and undercurrent Social commentary at that time. . |
