Published Date : 21-Jul-2013 22:00:00 GMT Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhara Rao’s comment that his party would protect its identity and would play a major role in the reconstruction of the Telangana after the formation of the separate state has left everybody in a state of confusion. The TRS was founded with the sole objective of achieving a separate state for Telangana and KCR had announced it a number of times. Once the Telangana state is formed, the TRS would lose its relevance, unless it remains like any other political party. No doubt, one cannot rule out the role played by the TRS so far in bringing the Telangana statehood issue to this stage and creating a political compulsion for the Congress party. So, if not now, the TRS can hope to come to power in future, unless of course, it merges with the Congress. However, the TRS president’s claim that the party would take part in Telangana reconstruction is confusing. What does KCR mean by reconstruction? Does he want to demolish all the structures built by Andhra businessmen and industrialists to construct fresh ones? Does he want to drive away Andhra employees and fill up the posts with Telangana people? Does he want to erase the Andhra cultural identity in Telangana?
