Chiranjeevi to visit Australia to promote Dreamliner service

Union Minister of State for Tourism (I/C) Shri Dr. K. Chiranjeevi called on Union Civil Aviation Minister Shri Ajit Singh here today and discussed the preparation and joint campaign strategy, in the run up to the launch of the Air IndiaÃ¯Â¿Â½s maiden Dream liner flight from Delhi to Sydney and Melbourne on 29 August, 2013.

The launch of the Dream liner service between Australia and India could further increase the tourist traffic between two countries. Also Australia ranks among the top destinations for In-bound tourists for India. India Diaspora which is largely presents in Australia will be benefited through this service.

The Boeing 787 Dream liner is a long-range, twin-engine jet airliner with far superior flight experience developed by Boeing. It is the company's most fuel-efficient airliner. The launch of the Dream liner will be a significant development and feather in the cap of Indian aviation.

Both the Ministers are likely to travel on the Air IndiaÃ¯Â¿Â½s maiden Dream liner in next month, and participate in the road shows in Sydney and Melbourne to spread awareness and boast the prospects of enhanced traffic.
Ministry of Tourism to effectively leverage the launch of the Dreamliner will be organizing the road shows later this month as a precursor to the launch of the service and also in September to build on the better connectivity between two countries.

Chiranjeevi asks States to form tourist police

To ensure that tourists, particularly women, feel safe in the country, Minister of State for Tourism K. Chiranjeevi has asked the States and Union territories to set up a special force such as tourist police. The Minister on Thursday suggested that the plan could be executed by borrowing some companies from the police department or hiring ex-servicemen or home guards.

Char Dham to be reconstructed in much better way: Chiranjeevi

New Delhi: The devastation caused at the 'char dham' pilgrimage circuit by floods in Uttarakhand recently has served the tourism ministry "a good lesson" which it would remember while launching reconstruction drive at these holy places, Tourism Minister K Chiranjeevi Thursday said.

Speaking at the sidelines of the tourism ministers' conference, he said Char Dham would be reconstructed in a "much better way" so that if such unforeseeable calamity occurs again, its adverse impact could be minimised.
He said it was for the Uttarakhand government to decide if tourism flow to the ecologically fragile region needed to be regulated.

He said pilgrims to Bodhgaya in Bihar were not deterred by the attacks by the bomb blasts of July 7 and showed "tremendous guts" by turning up for prayers in large numbers from the very next day.
Home Ministry, he said, was taking security measures to ensure such incidents did not recur.

Chiru seeks Unesco heritage tag for Qutb Shahi tombs

Union tourism minister Chiranjeevi on Wednesday urged Union minister of culture Chandresh Kumari Katoch to forward the dossier on Qutb Shahi tombs in Hyderabad to Unesco for according world heritage site status, which is long overdue.

Chiranjeevi called on Katoch in Delhi and made a request to this effect. Every year, Unesco allows each nation to submit one nomination for world heritage site status. Chiranjeevi pointed out that out of the 30 Unesco heritage sites in the country, AP does not have even one.

In 2010, a nomination dossier and management plan for Qutb Shahi monuments was submitted to Unesco as IndiaÃ¯Â¿Â½s official entry. In October 2012, an International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) mission was sent to Hyderabad to assess the condition of the monuments and their management.

Chiranjeevi drew the attention of the culture minister that APÃ¯Â¿Â½s claim has been pending. Besides, Qutb Shahi monuments include two ASI protected structures. Even the ICOMOS evaluation has been conducted for Qutb Shahi monuments, but despite meeting all the criteria, they are yet to be accorded the special distinction, Chiranjeevi said.

The world heritage site status was a matter of prestige and ensures that the site gets prominence on the world tourism map. Besides, it also means the site is so significant that its preservation becomes the responsibility of the international community.

It entitles the site to get various privileges and assistance for this purpose and attracts international tourists in much larger numbers than now.

Katoch assured Chiranjeevi that the matter would be looked into with all the seriousness, a release by the tourism ministry said.
